New Logo for a New Start
The closing of the Great Lakes Downs Racecourse last year sent shock waves throughout Michigan and was seen as a horrific loss by horse racing enthusiasts. Fortunately Jerry Campbell and his wife, owners of Post-It Stables, put forward the proposal of the Pinnacle Racecourse Project, to replace the old racecourse. The proposal was accepted and the track is now almost ready to host its first racing season. As the only horse racing facility in Michigan for thoroughbred racing, it carries a big responsibility and so far everything is looking great.

Royal Ascot Results: Five Action-packed Days
Many had been eagerly awaiting the thrills of Royal Ascot, and when the entourage of horses and riders came into sight the spectators started to cheer. Following the riders were the horse drawn carriages of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, and Prince Charles and Camilla. This not only signified the moment everyone had been waiting for, to catch a glimpse of the Royal Family, but it meant that the Royal Ascot was officially opened, and that five days of exhilarating racing was about to begin.

And as technology improves every year, the call for high definition broadcasting is increasing.

Thrill After Dark Lights Up Les Bois Park
Tuesday nights at Les Bois Park is Ladies Night. It is usually an evening filled with spectacular night horse racing, entertainment and fun. Last Tuesday evening, 17 June 2008, was no different as the ladies and their friends filled the stands in anticipation of their featured race, race number seven. The $12 550 Winning Colors Stakes was filled with a great line up of worthy contenders, and the mares and fillies entered into the race were waiting for their chance to shine at Les Bois Park.

Duke of Marmalade finds Success at Royal Ascot
Trainer Aiden O’Brian and jockey Johnny Murtagh have enjoyed a very successful Royal Ascot campaign this year. With Henrythenavigator winning the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes and Haradasun running home victorious in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, the duo could not have asked for more. But they had another horse waiting in the wings for his chance to showcase his abilities and rake in another Group 1 win for his trainer and jockey. Duke of Marmalade used his strength and determination to take the lead in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal Ascot.

150 Year milestone for the Alameda County Fair
Today, the 20th of June 2008, is the official opening of the 2008 Alameda County Fair, and as always it will open with spectacular live horse racing and fireworks. This year is a very special celebration for the Alameda County Fair, as they are commemorating a hundred and fifty years of horse racing. And as with previous years, the organizers have not missed a beat to make the 2008 Alameda County Fair as exciting and as entertaining, for the entire family, as possible.
