Zenyatta’s Breeders Cup Options
The legendary Breeders’ Cup is an event that is hosted annually at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita, and received 166 pre-entries to the event. Held on the 6th and 7th of November 2009, the Breeders’ Cup is known to be a prestigious event that features fourteen races and carries a total purse amount of $25.5 million. Thirty seven international horses have also been pre-entered, of which fifteen are from the Godolphin Racing yard. But most noteworthy, is the two pre-entries for Zenyatta and that of Summer Bird.

St. Nicholas Abbey, the New Sensation
There seems to be a new sensation in the horse racing industry, as he delivered breathtaking performance on the weekend, by taking home the Racing Post Trophy. His name is St. Nicholas Abbey, and everyone is looking at his juvenile performance with the greatest admiration. Trained by Aiden O’Brian, St. Nicholas Abbey is definitely showing potential and horse racing enthusiasts are now waiting in anticipation to hear if he will be running in the Stan James 2000 Guineas. The Sprinter, Stayer & Jumper- Typical Traits
Sprinters typically jump from the gates running, will often appear to be traveling well during a race, can show a turn of foot off a slow pace, but can die quickly and stop as if shot over the final stages of a race. Alternately a stayer will take time to find it stride from the gates, may appear to be struggling mid race, but will keep on coming over the concluding stages. The Equestrian and Racing Industry Gives Back
It is not every day that the opportunity arises to help service men and woman, who have been injured. To assist in raising funds, the Horses for Heroes initiative has recently been launched and Ascot Racecourse stepped in to offer assistance and a venue for this worthy cause to take place. The Horses for Heroes ride has united the horse racing world with riders and horse owners from a variety of other equestrian disciplines, to give back to the soldiers who risk their lives every day, to offer hope and freedom to their country.

Get Stormy Victorious at Keeneland
It seems that Get Stormy was just a little bit of a late developer, as he has been going into his latest events with more determination, and leaving with more victories. At the start of the season, the racing career of Get Stormy begun to look pretty bleak, suffering five consecutive losses. But as the season progressed, so did Get Stormy, leaving the crowd at Keeneland Racecourse, on Sunday 18 October 2009, completely speechless at his performance. It seems that Get Stormy and jockey Javier Castellano had just the right strategy for the 2009 Bryan Station Stakes.

Sea The Stars Retires
It is news that many have been dreading, but in the same breath, have been expecting. John Oxx, trainer of Sea The Stars, made the announcement that confirmed, that the magnificent racing phenomenon was retiring, and attention would now be shifted to his stud career. Sea The Stars will be retiring as one of the greatest equine athletes to have graced the horse racing industry, with spectacular victories and historical feats listed in his racing career. And though he might not be thrilling spectators in the stands anymore, it is hoped that his progeny will continue the Sea The Stars legacy.

Zenyatta, Queen of the Racecourse
Everyone in the horse racing industry has been watching the performances by Zenyatta very closely. Together with Rachel Alexandra, she has been dominating the racing scene. But with Rachel Alexandra being given the rest of the year off, all attention is now on Zenyatta and she is not disappointing anyone. This weekend, she once again proved that she is one of the best fillies to ever grace the horse racing community, by taking a comfortable victory in the Lady’s Secret Stakes that was hosted by the Santa Anita Racecourse.
