Remounting Ban for Steeplechase Racing

Steeplechase racing has always been a controversial sport, and across the board in all racing disciplines, rules and regulations have been changed to ensure the safety of the jockeys and the equine athletes. Many feel that the new remounting ban will not affect the sport too greatly, but it does still run the risk of losing income with the new ban. Officials have commented that the positive aspects far out weight the negative, and have therefore confirmed the implementation of the ban.

Sea the Stars victory at Longchamp

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is held at the famous Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France, every year, and is one of the most prestigious horse racing events on the racing calendar. Many international contenders have found world wide fame at this event, and this year was no different. The fabulous Sea the Stars gave spectators a wonderful performance and delivered a breathtaking performance, to become the 2009 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe champion. His victory on Sunday, 4 October 2009, also led to him creating history, becoming the first horse to win the Epsom Derby, the 2 000 Guineas and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Mill Duckie – GR Kelt Memorial Hopeful

On the first weekend of October, each year, the Hastings Racecourse in New Zealand comes alive with spectacular horse racing action. The GR Kelt Memorial, is a Group 3 event, run over a distance of 1 600 meters and has a handsome purse of $70 000. It is a supporting race for both the Hawke’s Bay Guineas and the Kelt Capital Stakes, but attracts a great number of worthy contenders each year, and is an anticipated event on the New Zealand racing calendar.
