Big Buck's Reigns Supreme
On Monday, 24 May 2010, all the big names in jumps racing attended a prestigious ceremony to find out who would walk away as the Horse of the Year. The public was also able to vote in regard to selecting the winner, and five horses were in contention, namely Denman, Kauto Star, Imperial Commander, Binocular and Big Buck’'s. With the breathtaking performances delivered by Big Buck's, he was crowned the 2010 Horse of the Year, with Imperial Commander being voted second, Kauto Star in third, Denman in fourth position and fifth position went to Binocular.

Sand Windsor Victorious at Northfield Park
On Saturday, 22 May 2010, the Miller Lite Courageous Lady Pace Stakes was held at the Northfield Park racecourse. It was an event that not only produced another champion winning horse, but paid tribute to a man who made great contributions to the harness racing industry. Due to the dedication of Jack Tramonte, the Courageous Lady Pace Stakes was sponsored by Millers Lite, and he was also linked to horses such as Doolin Dalton and Helluva Hush, and for breeding the spectacular Dunkster. The late Jack Tramonte was honored by a video tribute and the Courageous Lady Pace Stakes trophy was handed over by a representative from Tramonte Distributing.

Canadian Hall of Fame Inductees
The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame will once again be paying tribute to horses and horsemen that have made valuable contributions to the horse racing industry. The induction ceremony will be held on the 19th of August 2010, and the ten names of the latest Hall of Fame inductees were recently announced. There will be six deserving horses entered this year, along with four horsemen who have enriched the racing industry through their dedication. The ten names to be entered this year are Robert McIntosh, Peter Heffering, Frank Barroby, Mel Lawson, Mister Big, Lady Angela, Classic Wish, Victorian Era, Victory Gallop, and A Worthy Lad.

Preakness Stakes Results
The 135th Preakness Stakes was run at Pimlico Racecourse on Saturday, 15 May 2010, and saw the hopes of a Triple Crown victory fade away, as Super Saver just did not have it in him on the day. With the Triple Crown eluding the racing public and community for another year, the disappointment at the racecourse was tangible, even though the excitement and joy from Lookin At Lucky fans and connections was overwhelming, as he crossed the finish line to be crowned the 2010 Preakness Stakes champion.

Preakness Stakes Fever Runs High
Since the inauguration of the Preakness Stakes in 1873, at the Pimlico Racecourse in Maryland, it has become the race to look out for, as it determines whether there is a horse that is in the running to capture the elusive Triple Crown title. The winner receives a blanket of Black-eyed Susan flowers, giving the race the nickname of "The Run for the Black-eyed Susans". It is a Grade 1 event for thoroughbred racehorses and is the second leg in the Triple Crown. This year, the Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, 15 May 2010.

Lone Star Derby 2010 Results
Lone Star Park is located in Texas, and is home to the annual running of the Lone Star Derby. Inaugurated in 1997, the Lone Star Derby is a fairly new race, and was made a Grade III horse racing event in 2002. It was created for horses that are three years of age, and carries a purse amount of $200 000. To date, Bob Baffert has been the most successful trainer at this event, winning the Lone Star Derby in 1997, 2006 and 2009. And on Saturday, 8 May 2010, he raked in his fourth victory.

Legendary Trainer Greg Gilchrist Retires
Lost in the Fog is a horse that is remembered by every horse racing enthusiast, as his brief but victorious horse racing career was cut short due to cancer. Winning events such as the Maiden Special Weight, Bay Shore Stakes and Ocala Stud Dash Stakes, Lost in the Fog also won the Eclipse Award in 2005 for the Outstanding Sprint Horse. And through all his victories and difficulties one man stood by him until the bitter end, his trainer, Greg Gilchrist. And it is with fond memories of horses such as Lost in the Fog that Gilchrist has made the decision to retire.
