Double Loss for Racing Industry
The 28th of September 2010 will remain a date few members of the horse racing industry will ever forget. Two breathtaking careers came to a sudden end, and while one legend will continue to live out her life as a brood mare, the other will be lost to the racing world forever. With such magnificent racing careers to look back on, it was announced with great sadness that Rachel Alexandra had retired from horse racing, and that Real Quiet passed away on 27 September 2010. Their contributions to horse racing will always be remembered.

Secretariat - The Movie
Secretariat, sired by Bold Ruler out of the dam Somethingroyal, was foaled in the year 1970 and became one of the most legendary horses in the history of horse racing. His is the story of love, dedication, sacrifice and triumph, and still warms the hearts of everyone who learns about the life of this amazing horse. But together with the races he won and the name he made, comes a tale of passion and belief from his owner Penny Chenery of Meadow Stables. On 8 October 2010, the movie Secretariat will be released to the public, capturing the essence and emotion of this magnificent true life story.

Rest for Afleet Express
The Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational is to take place next Saturday, 2 October 2010. This prestigious $750 000 event will, however, be kicking off without one very talented competitor, namely Afleet Express. Due to an injury being detected and diagnosed, Afleet Express will be resting quietly for the following ninety days and resume training in January. Even though the injury has been a setback for everyone involved in Afleet Express’ career, everyone has agreed that he is too valuable to take risks with and are happy to wait for the next racing season.

Tribute to Noble Threewit
Santa Anita Park has been missing the presence of a beloved figure in their barns since 2007, and is now mourning the loss of a dear friend, loyal supporter and successful trainer. Noble Threewit passed away on Friday, 17 September 2010, leaving behind a legacy that he can be proud of. He will remain a part of the history of the racecourse for many years to come. Threewit owned a number of horses during his years in the racing industry and has been a part of the Santa Anita Park community since their doors first opened.

150 Years for CRJC
Grafton is known throughout Australia as one of the most breathtaking cities. Lined with Jacaranda trees and blanketed in purple flowers, the city is as inspiring as it is interesting. Picturesque waterways dominate the landscape of Grafton, and it is famous for its Bridge Ski Race and events such as the annual July Racing Carnival. This year the city will be overrun with additional visitors as the Clarence River Jockey Club celebrates its 150th anniversary with fun, activities and live horse racing action.

A Day of Triumph and Tribute
The eighth race on Saturday, 11 September 2010, which was hosted at Belmont Park Race Course was a race that will be long remembered for the connections of Aces Mark. The fact he placed second did not disappoint them at all, because it was the fact the Aces Mark was actually racing and what he represented that mean the most. Remembering a day of heroes and lost friends, and seeing a horse that everyone thought would not return to the track again was an inspiring and unforgettable moment in time.
