Big Brown Heading for Monmouth

On the 3rd of August 2008, Big Brown made his return to horse racing at the $1 million Haskell Invitational, after finishing in last position at the Belmont Stakes. He won the Haskell in a nail-biting fight for victory. Knowing that Michael Iavarone, one of Big Brown’s connections, would be looking for the right turf race to run him in before the Breeders’ Cup, racecourses have been making offers and raising purses to lure Big Brown to their tracks. But Monmouth Park came up victorious as Big Brown’s presence in the Monmouth Stakes has been confirmed.

Pacific Classic at Del Mar

The first Pacific Classic was run at Del Mar Racecourse on 10 August 1991, It has seen legendary horses such as Best Pal, Cigar, Lava Man, Tinners Way, Dare and GO and Candy Ride in its starting gates before. This year, the highlight of the horse racing action taking place on Sunday, 24 August 2008, will be the older horses taking part in the Group 1 $1 million Pacific Classic and the contenders this year are guaranteed to set Del Mar Racecourse alight with nail-biting performances.

Ebor Festival Hot Racing Action

York Racecourse will be hosting the Ebor Festival of horse racing from the 21st of August to the 23rd of August, with Juddmonte International Day being held on Thusday, Elbor Day on Friday and Ladies Day on Saturday. Weekend Hussler Sets Sights on Liston Stakes

The $200 000 JJ Liston Stakes will take place on Saturday, 14 August 2008, at Caulfield Racecourse. With Weekend Hussler’s trainer, Ross McDonald, looking to take the Caulfield Cup-Cox Plate-Melbourne Cup treble, he could not afford any injury to his horse. Unfortunately for some time it almost seemed as if Weekend Hussler was out of the running, leaving trainer, handlers, jockey and owners very worried. But Weekend Hussler proved that he was a fighter, and seems to be making enough progress to be a confirmed entry into the Liston Stakes.

The Confederation Cup has a long and distinguished history that is synonymous with world class horse racing action, magnificent horses and a tradition of quality harness racing.
