Rest for Afleet Express

The Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational is to take place next Saturday, 2 October 2010. This prestigious $750 000 event will, however, be kicking off without one very talented competitor, namely Afleet Express. Due to an injury being detected and diagnosed, Afleet Express will be resting quietly for the following ninety days and resume training in January. Even though the injury has been a setback for everyone involved in Afleet Express’ career, everyone has agreed that he is too valuable to take risks with and are happy to wait for the next racing season.

150 Years for CRJC

Grafton is known throughout Australia as one of the most breathtaking cities. Lined with Jacaranda trees and blanketed in purple flowers, the city is as inspiring as it is interesting. The eighth race on Saturday, 11 September 2010, which was hosted at Belmont Park Race Course was a race that will be long remembered for the connections of Aces Mark. The fact he placed second did not disappoint them at all, because it was the fact the Aces Mark was actually racing and what he represented that mean the most. Remembering a day of heroes and lost friends, and seeing a horse that everyone thought would not return to the track again was an inspiring and unforgettable moment in time.

"Secretariat" – Portrayal of a Champion

Born on March 30, 1970, and going on to reach legendary status with his 31-length lead at the 1973 Belmont Stakes, resulting in a U.S. Triple Crown win, Secretariat was a horse that will long be remembered in horse racing circles. But although Secretariat's incredible form on the track was admired by all who saw him, the fascinating behind-the-scenes story of his life was not common knowledge. All that is about to change with the release of the new Walt Disney movie "Secretariat" on October 8, as the inspiring and heart-warming story of a champion in the making takes to the big screen.

2010 Pacific Classic

One of the most anticipated racing events on the Del Mar Racecourse's racing calendar is the Pacific Classic Stakes. It is an annual event that is open to horses three years old and older, and is run over a distance of ten furlongs. With a purse of $1million, the Pacific Classic Stakes lures the best athletes from across America to participate, and this year was no different. Richards' Kid was able to successfully defend his title, and become the 2010 Pacific Classic Stakes winner.

On the Road to the Eclipse

On Saturday, 21 August 2010, the Alabama Stakes got underway at the Saratoga Racecourse. With $500 000 as prize money, the best athletes descended on the racecourse to participate in this anticipated event. It is a Grade I flat horse racing fixture that was inaugurated in 1872, and has seen many magnificent horses enter and win this event, including Classy Cathy, Summer Quest, Pine Island, Open Mind and Careless Jewel. On Saturday, however, the victory went to Blind Luck, putting her into the running for the Eclipse Award.

Victory for Wasted Tears

Del Mar Racecourse was buzzing with excitement as the running of the John C. Mabee Stakes got under way. An extremely talented field of competitors entered the starting gates of this magnificent Grade II event, with their eyes on the prize of $250 000. Fortunately for everyone involved in the racing career of Wasted Tears, she had the tenacity to continue fighting for her victory amidst the high pressure of contenders chasing her down, completing the race with a nail-biting finish.
