Irridescence Triumphs at Hong Kong Horse Racing
South Africa is emerging as a serious horse racing country with several horses worth following. Irridescence, a horse with strong South African links emerged triumphant at the HK$14m QE2 Cup at Sha-Tin racecourse in Hong Kong. Irridescence runs in the colors of American syndicate Team Valor, but his owner Barry Irwin, is a big supporter of South African racing.

New Partnership for More Horse Racing Viewership
Internationally horse racing is set to get even more global. Horse racing from several race courses are broadcast live to many countries of the world. A new television channel, Racing World owned by Racing UK, was launched in early March this year and has proved to be very popular with racegoers who have the opportunity to watch live horse racing from several venues including Golden Gate Fields, Gulfstream Park, Laurel Park, Oaklawn Park, Santa Anita Park and Turfway Park. This will increase during this year's spring and summer season when more horse racing Associations enter into agreements with the channel.

Tattersalls Horse Racing Sponsorship of Gold Cup Extended
Here has been a boost to horse racing among older horses as Tattersalls have agreed to continue their support of the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh Racecourse until 2009. The new three year sponsorship commitment will also increase the total prize money for the Group 1 race to be increased to 300,000 euro from 2007. This is bound to ensure that the God Cup continues to attract the very best horses in Europe to the Curragh. The 10 furlongs contest is considered as one of the top middle distances in the international racing calendar and attracts many of Europe's top older horses every year. It is among the highest rated races in the world.
