The days of families raising a surprise horse racing champion or a group of friends buying the horse of their dreams are almost gone. These days, only the big hitters in the racing industry are able to throw money around, and when a lone horse racing enthusiast wants to join in on the racing action it is easier to invest in a hedge fund where there is more than just one horse running. Unfortunately, hedge funds have received a lot of criticism over the years, but the new Thoroughbred Legends Racing Fund seems as if it might be a fund with a difference.

Epsom Derby Racing Results
While the Belmont Stakes organizers were gearing up for one of the biggest racing events on the horse racing calendar, the second day of the Epsom Derby, also referred to as the Epsom Derby Festival, was well underway. With a full day of racing splendor on Friday the 6th of June, known as Ladies Day, and a jam packed schedule for Derby Day on Saturday the 7th of June, the Epsom Downs Racecourse was in high spirits, with thousands of spectators who came out in support of the Epsom Derby Festival and their favorite horses.

Clear Skies for Deep Sky
On Sunday, 1 June 2008, a jockey by the name of Hirofumi Shii enjoyed a historical victory at the Japan Derby in front of more than a hundred thousand spectators. The Japan Derby is the second leg of the Japanese equivalent of the Triple Crown, and last year Shii guided the first filly (Vodka) in sixty-four years to the winning position. Aboard Deep Sky on Sunday, Shii became the second jockey in the Japanese Racing Association to win a racing event two years in a row.

Nobiz Like Showbiz Retires
The announcement that Nobiz Like Showbiz was going into retirement was a sad moment for everyone who has been involved in his horse racing career. Not only is he a magnificent racehorse, but his gentle personality makes him a joy to work with. While staying at Indian Creek Farm in Kentucky, owner and breeder Elizabeth Valando will decide on his future as possible stud horse. Nobiz Like Showbiz will be sorely missed by fans and the racing community.
