Shadow Play Wins Little Brown Jug
The Little Brown Jug set Delaware on fire as spectators rose to their feet during the nail biting eliminations and the final of this magnificent harness racing event. Big names in harness racing were present, including Lonestar Legend, Art Official, Badlands Nitro, Santanna Blue Chip and Giddy Up Lucky. But it was Shadow Play that exceeded all expectations, and won his elimination race and the final, walking away victorious at the sixty-third running of the Little Brown Jug.

Steroid Ban for Maryland
Delaware, Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania all have one thing in common when it comes to horse racing, and that is the fact that all four of these states have banned anabolic steroids. This magnificent improvement on the regulations in regard to steroids has been welcomed by the racing community as well as by loyal fans of the racing industry. Maryland has become the most recent state to enforce the banning of steroids, and it is a decision that will be approved on an emergency basis, so as to have the regulation enforced by 2009.

King Johnny Makes it Three
Just over nine thousand loyal harness racing fans braved the somewhat cold weather on Saturday to attend Super Night at Balmoral Park Racecourse. Super Night has been held at the Balmoral Park Racecourse since 1998, and gives spectators the opportunity to see a jam packed lineup of spectacular horses and action filled racing events. But, even more exciting, a new Super Night record was set on Saturday night,by the magnificent harness racing veteran, King Johnny. It was a racing meeting that will forever be remembered in the history of Super Night and Balmoral Park Racecourse.

Big Brown Victorious at Monmouth Stakes
The Breeder’s Cup Classic will take place on 25 October 2008, and on Saturday, 13 September 2008, Big Brown competed in his last racing event before getting ready for the Breeder’s Cup. The Monmouth Stakes was run on turf to prepare Big Brown for the synthetic track on which the Breeder’s Cup will be run for the first time this year. And even though Big Brown was up against a brilliant field of older contenders and had to navigate a course that had been softened by rain, the three year old colt did not miss a beat and gave his all to win the $500 000 Monmouth Stakes.

American National Stake Elimination Results
A total of 21 fillies were entered in the American National Stake elimination rounds, making it necessary to schedule a trio of elimination rounds to determine exactly which horses should be raced in the preliminaries. The action was fast-paced and exciting and show-cased some amazing racing potential.

Henrythenavigator Suffers Unfortunate Defeat
Up until now Henrythenavigator has run some exciting first place finishes. But his ability to turn up the turf at top speeds does not translate so well to mud, so when he left the starting gates at the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp, he found himself struggling the whole way. In the end his turmoil left him laboring across the finish line in fifth place.

Boost for Ayr Gold Cup Festival
The John Smith’s Ayr Gold Cup Festival is being held from the 18th to the 20th of September 2008 at the Ayr Racecourse in the United Kingdom. A massive crowd of over twenty-five thousand spectators are expected at the Ayr Racecourse for a weekend of spectacular racing, entertainment and activitie. Even though the showstopper event of the weekend is the John Smith’s Ayr Gold Cup, it is the boost in purse money that has everybody talking.
