The Arlington Million horse racing event was introduced to the racing industry, not so long ago. It has however grown and developed into one of the most prestigious racing events in Illinois. This year, the event has drawn a wonderful list of top contenders, and celebrates its twenty seventh running on 8 August 2009. The Arlington Million will be hosted by the Arlington Park Racecourse in Chicago and horse racing enthusiasts are urged to make their way to this live horse racing event, as it is going to be spectacular.

Rachel Alexandra rocks the Haskell

Rachel Alexandra has once again proved to the world that she is one of the greatest fillies ever. Everyone who had witness her spectacular performance in the Preakness Stakes, were hoping that she could pull off another breathtaking victory over her male counterparts, and her fans were not disappointed. The Haskell Invitational is a Group 1 horse racing event that has a purse of $1.25 million and was hosted by the Monmouth Park Racecourse. Hundreds of horse racing enthusiasts braved the unpleasant weather to watch Rachel Alexandra in live racing action.

Mine that Bird ready for West Virginia

For horse racing enthusiasts in West Virginia, the upcoming West Virginia Derby will be a one of a kind event, but then again, Mine that Bird and his trainer, Bennie “Chip” Woolley Jr. are one of a kind. They are an inseparable team, and Woolley’s laid back and calm demeanor seems to have rubbed off on the Champion, who takes his victories in his stride and has become a racehorse that has won over many hearts during his career. But for West Virginia, it will be the first time they have a Kentucky Derby winner in their midst.

Montana ExpoPark racing Action

There was great excitement and a successful day of racing enjoyed this weekend, as Montana ExpoPark opened for racing under new management. The racing cards were filled and the grandstand packed with spectators as racing got underway, and it is hoped that the great support and overwhelming attendance at the opening of Montana ExpoPark is a sign of wonderful things to come for the racecourse. And with five days of racing, which ends on the 26th of July 2009, Randy Fozzard, Montana Racing’s general manager, is confident that the support will continue.

Jess Jackson has always been known as an owner that is very particular in regard to the races he chooses for his horses. Monmouth Park has been waiting anxiously to hear if the magnificent filly, Rachel Alexandra will be taking part in the 2009 Haskell Invitational, and their answer came on Tuesday, in the form of a commitment by Jackson. Racecourse officials are extremely excited to have Rachel Alexandra in the line up, as it will not only be a very interesting racing event, but draw large numbers of spectators to come see this amazing athlete in action.

Durban July Results

On Saturday, 4 July 2009, the Greyville Racecourse in Durban, South Africa, came alive with spectacular fashion and world class live horse racing. It is probably the most prestigious racing event in the country and draws a capacity crowd of just over fifty thousand spectators each year. This year was no different, as beautiful women and stylish men filed through the gates to bear witness to the 2009 Grade 1 Vodacom Durban July. And with a purse of R3 million, the best horses in the country were in the starting gates and ready for action.
