Black Caviar Delivers at Randwick
Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, Australia, was the host of the 2011 TJ Smith Stakes on Saturday, 9 April 2011 – a racing spectacular that had all spectators spellbound. It is a Grade 1 event that is run over a distance of 1 200 meters. A talented filly, named Black Caviar, managed to outrun and outlast a field of worthy contenders to walk away victorious from Randwick Racecourse. The way Black Caviar is performing has caused a stir in the racing community, and she is being compared to previous racing greats such as Phar Lap.

Derby Success for Dialled In
Gulfstream Park in Florida is home to the Florida Derby that was inaugurated in 1952. This annual Grade 1 event is hosted for three-year-old horses and has a purse amount of $1 million. The winners of the Florida Derby almost always move on to the Kentucky Derby. On Sunday, 3 April 2011, the 60th Florida Derby was dominated by a magnificent horse named Dialled In, trained by Nick Zito and ridden by Julian Leparoux. It was a day to remember for all at Gulfstream Park.

Victoire Pica Takes Dubai World Cup
The first horse to win the Dubai World Cup at the inauguration race in 1996 was the Hall of Famer Cigar. The race is run over a distance of two thousand meters, has a purse amount USD 10 million, and is hosted by the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. Horses that are three-years-old and older are permitted to participate in the event. On Saturday, 26 March 2011, a Japanese horse by the name of Victoire Pica galloped to victory - a historic moment for Japan as a whole.

Periander Delivers Breathtaking Win
The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club is one of the most well-known courses in the world as it not only features wonderful facilities for stabling and training but is home to the prestigious horse racing events such as the Emirates Championship. The Emirates Championship is an event for Purebred Arabian horses, and even though Magaretha de Ruiter-Floor was given an invitation to run her horse Periander in the Kahayla Classic, she made the decision not to divert from the racing plan that she had set out for Periander, and it turned out to be a very good choice.

San Filipe Rocked by Premier Pegasus
The San Felipe Stakes has gone through many changes. Inaugurated in 1935, the event was only open to three-year-old horses of both sexes in 1952. World War II did cause some disruption in the running of this race, as the war affected many racecourses. Now this popular Grade II event is an anticipated race and is one of the Kentucky Derby official preparation races, as well as a prep race for the Santa Anita Derby. It has a purse of $250 000 and is run at the Santa Anita Racecourse. On Saturday, 12 March 2011, one horse took the San Filipe by storm.

Great Come Back for Positive Response
The John Battaglia Memorial Stakes was inaugurated at the Turfway Park Racecourse as a preparation race for the Lane's End Stakes in 1982. It is held on a dirt track and is for horses three years of age. This race was named after the previous manager of the racecourse, back when it was still known as the Latonia Race Track, and has a purse of $100 000. Positive Response has shown that he can perform on synthetic courses, but on Saturday, 5 March 2011, he proved that he is just as comfortable of dirt by winning the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes by seven lengths.

Flashpoint Overwhelms Competitors
The very first Hutcheson Stakes was run on 31 March 1954 and has been a grand fixture at the Gulfstream Park Racecourse ever since. It is a Grade II event that is exclusively for three-year-old horses that is run over a distance of seven and a half furlongs on a dirt track. It has a purse amount of $150 000 and is used by many trainers as a preparation race for the Florida Derby. Named in honor of William Levi Hutcheson, the 2011 Hutcheson Stakes was run on Saturday, 26 February 2011, at Gulfstream Park Racecourse, with Flashpoint taking the victory with an outstanding performance.
