A Glamorous Experience at Royal Ascot

Queen Anne founded the Ascot Racecourse in 1711. Since that time it has become a symbol of style and status across the world. Located a mere six miles away from Windsor Castle, the Ascot has remained synonymous with the royal family. The Her Majesty’s Plate was the first thoroughbred race to take place here. From 1945, more racing events were added to the calendar, and from 1965, hurdles and steeplechase races were being run at Ascot Racecourse. But it is the Royal Ascot racing meet that is still seen as one of the premier events in England.

Some of the world’s top horses are entered into this magnificent five day racing event. With more than £3.5 million in prize money, the Royal Ascot is one of the richest international racing events. Each year, more than three hundred thousand spectators gather to enjoy good racing, along with all the social events and splendor of the races. Striking outfits and the most spectacular hats have always turned heads at the races. While the horses and jockeys battle it out on the racecourse for first position, the ladies and gentlemen strut their stuff off the track in a race to be nominated as the best dressed.

In the age old tradition, each race day of the Royal Ascot is opened by Her Majesty The Queen. She will enter in her horse drawn carriages onto the racecourse through the Golden Gates, pass the Straight Mile, Silver Ring, General Admission and the Royal Enclosure. She then exits the track and disembarks her carriage in the Parade Ring, where the crowds wait anxiously to catch a glimpse of her and her outfit for the day. Another great tradition on Royal Ascot race day is the singing of old favorite at the end of the day.

The Royal Ascot also ensures that it provides quality facilities and activities on each of the racing days. Visitors to the races can look forward to luncheons, afternoon tea, bar facilities, color television coverage, tote facilities and many more activities and special events. Every aspect of the racecourse, the beautiful surroundings and magnificent social celebrations, oozes style, glamour and royalty. It is a truly unforgettable experience and everyone should ensure that they have bought their tickets for this racing spectacular which takes place between the 17th and 21st of June 2008.
