Hereford Beer and Balti Raceday

The Hereford Racecourse in England has been hosting horse racing events for over two hundred years and the history of the facility is preserved by the racecourse in journals dating back to 1771. It began as a flat horse racing track, but by 1848, steeple chase racing started becoming a popular feature at the Hereford Racecourse. Thirteen racing events take place here annually of which National Hunt racing is the dominating sport, with ten events, one harness racing meeting and two flat racing events for Arab horses. The next scheduled event to take place at the Racecourse, is the Beer and Balti Raceday.

Arab flat horse racing only began at the Hereford Racecourse in 1984, a hundred years after the last flat racing meeting was held. The delightful variety of events attracts thousands of enthusiasts each year, and the racecourse itself is very popular amongst horsemen as well. The racecourse has magnificent and comfortable facilities for everyone to enjoy, such as two beautiful grandstands, bar, restaurant and terraced grandstands, all which have a good view of the course. Book making and tote facilities are also available and there is ample parking.

The Beer and Balti Raceday will take place on the 9th of November 2008, and is guaranteed to be a day of fun for all those who attend. Not only will there be six spectacular races, but many activities and competitions to take part in. One of the most entertaining competitions is the Bulmer’s Wife Carrying Race, where the lucky winning couple will win their combined weight in refreshing cider. Together with entry into the racecourse, spectators will receive Beer and Balti Raceday packages with their entry fee, which consists of chicken balti and chips, a betting voucher and the choice of either two pints of Strongbow or two pints of John Smith’s Butty Bach. Gates to the racecourse will open just after eleven in the morning, with the first race being run at ten past one in the afternoon. The Beer and Balti Raceday is set to be a spectacular event and there are three more race days to look forward to afterwards, being the 20th of November, 2nd of December and the 22nd of December.
