Jumps Racing Season Starts At Warwick

Near the breathtaking Warwick Castle, lies a historic horse racing track that overflows with charm and beauty and has been the venue of horse racing events since the early 1740’s; Warwick Racecourse. During the year, Warwick Racecourse hosts twenty three fixtures and accommodates both flat horse racing and jumps racing, and on Wednesday, 19 November 2008, it will kick off with seven racing events to signal the start of an exciting jumps racing season. Many big names in jumps racing will be attending and it is guaranteed to be a day to remember.

Although many jumps racing fans are looking forward to Kauto Star and Denman facing off in the Cheltenham Gold Cup next year, Paul Nicholls has a few other magnificent horses he will be showing off on Wednesday. One of his horses was entered into the Paddy Power Gold Cup, namely Silverburn, who is the full brother to the magnificent Denman. Nicholls will be entering quite a few different horses in the various events during the season, of which Free World will be trying to capture the Highflyer Bloodstock Four Year Old Novices’ Steeplechase for him, on Wednesday. This race has the richest purse of the day, with £13,500 as prize money.

Another trainer who is looking to make his mark this season, is Nicky Henderson, who has partnered with jockey Barry Geraghty and has a few horses that could perform extremely well, such as Madame Mado who has shown great promise in her performances. David Pipe also has his eye on the coming jumps racing season, with horses such as Great Endeavour and Peur Etre Sivola proving to be great talents on the track. Many trainers seem to be conquering great racing events with French-bred horses, as it seems that they mature much earlier than Irish or English bred horses. Kauto Star is testament to that statement.

As the jumps racing season begins to gain momentum, enthusiasts can be sure of a season filled with excitement and quality racing action. With trainers and their horses training hard, and some of the favorite horses and legendary trainers returning for another season, Warwick Racecourse will be hoping to whet the lips of many punters on Wednesday, by offering a day of racing splendor.
