Watch Out for Babieca Noire!
It is not every day that a trainer has two young horses performing perfectly. Trainer, Spencer Knight, has been smiling from ear to ear because of the brilliant performance of both Rosa Delago and Babieca Noire. After years of support and confidence in the capabilities of Knight, the owners have finally seen the fruits of their labor pay off in the last two races at Ascot.
The talented colt, Babieca Noire, was foaled in 2005, and is by sire Bel Esprit (Australia), and dam, French Snip (Australia). The two year old colt is owned by a South West syndicate, consisting of various owners. They have stayed with Spencer Knight through the difficult times, and can now enjoy every minute of their success. Horse racing has never been more exciting for those in the Babieca Noire and Rosa Delago camp, and this seems to only be the beginning of their outstanding racing careers.
Babieca Noire took second place in his first ever start, behind the other Knight trained horse Rosa Delago, with the Two Year Old Plate being the second lifetime start for the filly, Rosa Delago. The horses have definitely provided some of the proudest moments in the trainer’s life, and to add to the joy Babieca Noire sprinted to first place in the Motive Travel Plate. The win has sky-rocketed the colt to fame, drawing interest by prospective buyers who have already made offers for this rising star.
Selling this magnificent colt seems to be the last thing on Spencer Knight’s mind right now. He has set his sights on the $250 000 purse Magic Millions race, which will be held on 16 February 2008, where he will not only be hoping for another breathtaking performance from Babieca Noire, but looking for new talent at the yearling sale.
Babieca Noire has already won $32 000 for his owners and not many horses have been lucky enough to have such magnificent starts to their careers. Even though Babieca Noire is still young and will need to gain more experience on the track, making jockeys work for their victories, everyone involved in the life of this promising horse has great expectations for his future. He will definitely be the horse to watch in the upcoming thoroughbred horse racing events.
