The Randwick Guineas is classed as a Grade 1 race run over a distance of 1600 meters at set weights by thoroughbred horses of three years of age.

With a purse of Aus$4000 000.00, the Randwick Guineas, which has replaced the Canterbury Guineas last run in 2005, has since been hosted at the Randwick Racecourse. This fantastic race also makes up the first leg of the well known Sydney ‘Triple Crown’, with the other two races being the Rosehill Guineas run over 2000 meters and the AJC Derby run over 2400 meters.

At present the Randwick racecourse is going under alterations as it will be hosting the final mass for the ‘XXIII World Youth Day’, 2008.
