Poule d’Essai des Poulains, or ‘French two thousand guineas’, is a magnificent race run at the beautiful Longchamp Racecourse, which lies on the famous Route des Tribunes in the romantic city of Paris.

Longchamps Racecourse is home to some of the most amazing races in the horse racing industry. Interestingly it was only in 1857 that Poule d’Essai des Poulains ran for the first time at Longchamp, having spent seventeen years previously at the Champ de Mars racecourse.

The Poule d’Essai des Poulains is known as a Group 1 race for thoroughbred colts of 3-years and covers a distance of 1600 meters, or approximately 1 mile.
