Description:
The Toyota Blue Grass Stakes is sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation and is held annually round about the middle of April.
Its here at the beautiful Keeneland Racecourse that the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, a Grade one thoroughbred horse race, is held for three year old and run over a distance of about 1⅛ miles.
The race was first run in 1911 in Lexington at the Kentucky Association track and was held from 1911 to 1914 and then from 1919 to 1926.
You maybe curious of the name ‘Blue Grass’ given to the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. This was done in celebration of the ‘Bluegrass Region’ in Kentucky, where the heart of the horse racing and the ‘Blue Grass Stakes’ takes place with its awesome blue tinted green clumps.
It has always been an important race in preparing horses for the well known Kentucky Derby, and with a purse of $750 000.00, it makes for a nice win.
