Please add a section on places which need facilities for horse racing. Here is a piece on Cape Cod:

Bring Horse Racing Back to Cape Cod

What could horse racing and Cape Cod have to do with each other?

Consider that the area had no fewer than 10 race tracks at the dawn of the 20th century. Trotting parks were almost more common than houses, and sea-faring folk who settled here in the late 1800s, took great pains to develop some ideal sites for horse racing and allied activities.

There was no formal sport betting in those days, but old hands believe that spectators were not above wagering modest amounts to increase their enjoyment of the grand sport of horse racing.

Why did it all disappear? Horse racing is those days depended on the support and sponsorship of the wealthy. Indeed, this continues to be the case with horse racing in many countries even today. The introduction of the automobile took away some of the charms of horse racing from the folk of Cape Cod, and tourism took its toll as well. Many people believe that cinema was also responsible for horse racing losing most of its following in Cape Cod.

Well, it is high time to make the cycle complete again-let us hope that horse racing returns to Cape Cod, and that we all enjoy the regal sport in the manner of our fore fathers! Automobiles and cinema are great, but no substitutes for the excitement and glamour of horse racing. The sport will give a fillip to Cape Cod tourism as well!

Write and let me know what you think, and tell me of other places where you think horse racing should be revived.:)
