Centennial Farms

Since its start, back in 1982, Centennial Farms has become well-known for its high standard of thoroughbred breeding and racing. Centennial Farms in Massachusetts opens up the world of horse racing to the average person through increasingly popular racing partnerships. The main aim of this outstanding establishment is to purchase top prospective racing horses at premium public sales, train them into champions and finally retire them as breeding stock.

Donald Little established Centennial Farms in 1982 with the vision of creating greater participation in horse racing, viewing it as a businessman's risk and not a speculation. Little brought together a team of talented horsemen to assist him in buying and training young horses into champions of the racetrack. Dr. Stephen Carr, best-known as the track veterinarian who treated Forego and Secretariat, also joined Little's team to take the lead in bloodstock acquisition. Top trainer Paula Parsons fulfills an essential role in the team with her excellent eye for an exceptional racehorse. Ms. Parsons is also responsible for the breaking in and early training of the farm's horses, preparing them for the racetrack. Centennial's premium team carefully inspects every colt at the country's renowned sales. Before a purchase is made, the young racehorse must fall into a particular standard of conformation and pedigree. Thus, all of Centennial Farm's new steeds are certain to become victors and excellent stallions.

Centennial Farms' careful selection process has lead to great success. Its horses have gone on to gain top positions in more than 60 graded races bringing in earnings of around $ 10 million. In 1992, Rubiano brought home the Eclipse Award Sprint Champion. Centennial Farm's racehorses include Chelokee, Reverberate, Ground Storm and Corinthian. Outstanding studs at Centennial Farms include Lil's Lad, King Cugat, Colonial Affair, Small Virtue, Deputy Diamond, Nordance and Comic Blush.

Centennial Farms has a number of partnerships whereby shareholders own several colts of brilliant pedigrees. If these fantastic colts meet with success on the racetrack they will become sought-after stallions. Partnerships at Centennial farms are in the form of stallion syndicates right from the start. When the partnership reaches its end the shareholders can either sell their interest or keep them for the breeding benefits. Beyond the partnerships, Centennial Farms provides services to clients such as broodmare acquisition, filly purchase and stallion management. Centennial Farms is certainly worthy of consideration if you want to become involved in the horse racing industry.
