Arkansas Racetracks

Arkansas’ major horse racing facility is the Oaklawn Jockey Club Racing Track, which hosted its first live horse racing event way back in February 1905. Since the inauguration of this world class establishment, the Oaklawn Jockey Club Racing Track has been the venue of many memorable race meetings and has seen some of the best competitors battle it out on the track. Competitors from all over the country flock to Arkansas to participate in a variety of events, including the Razorback Breeders’ Cup Handicap, the Northern Spur Breeders’ Cup and the Oaklawn Handicap.

Established through Act 46 of 1957, the Arkansas State Racing Commission oversees all thoroughbred horse and greyhound racing within the state. They work together with the Oaklawn Jockey Club Racing Track to ensure that the rights of the State, as well as the public are upheld, while at the same time regulating licensing procedures and ensuring that the rules and regulations of horse racing are upheld by owners, jockeys, breeders and trainers. Together, they offer fair and legalized horse racing action for all to enjoy.
