Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens, Florida, is an ever-popular horse racing track. Offering a calendar full of racing meets, top simulcasting and highly impressive facilities, Calder Race Course opens up a truly amazing race day experience to all.

Officially opened on 6 May 1971 Calder Race Course has attracted large crowds of eager horse racing enthusiasts throughout its years of operation. During the 1980's Calder underwent a number of improvements. The “Festival of the Sun” came to the track in 1992 and in 1997 simulcasting created so that venues elsewhere could wager on Calder's great racing events. Calder race track began to flourish. Churchill Downs Incorporated bought the track in 1999 and two great events, the “Summit of Speed” and “Florida Million” were introduced. The Summit of Speed has since become well-known for producing great champions in the Breeders' Cup and Eclipse award. Only in action since 2000 the famed Summit of Speed has drawn top thoroughbred sprinters from the country over. Another popular event on Calder Race Course's calendar is the Florida Stallion Stakes. Not to be missed are the Fasig Tipton and Ocala Breeders' Sales.

Florida's Calder Race Course boasts a 1 mile oval dirt track with an inner turf track of 7 furlongs. Stalls are available for some 1 800 horses on this 220 acre property. Several graded stakes are scheduled at Calder race track such as the Memorial Day Handicap, Smile Sprint handicap, Carry Back Stakes, Calder Derby, Miami Mile Breeders' Cup Handicap, Tropical Turf Handicap, La Prevoyante Handicap and others. Calder Race Course has also shot many a jockey into the limelight. Jockeys from the Caribbean and Latin America have benefited greatly from experience gained at Calder. Jockeys to start their career here include Rene Douglas, Alex Solis, Jose Santos, Eddie Castro, Abel Castellano, Jose Ferrer, Monoel Cruz and many more.

Calder Race Course boasts stunning facilities such as sufficient seating for 15 000 racegoers. Aside from the general grandstand there are a number of premier rooms including those used of thrilling simulcasting.
