Harrah's Louisiana Downs is situated on a 350 acre plot in Bossier City of Louisiana. Originally opened in 1974, Louisiana Downs race track has developed into a full-fledged horse racing and casino establishment. A premier venue, Harrah's Louisiana Downs is all about gaming action with thrilling live horse racing, slot machines, great dining and much more, every day of the week.

Founded in 1974, some 15 000 horse racing enthusiasts attended Louisiana Downs race track's opening day. From day one Louisiana Downs was a hit. The renowned Super Derby was run for the first time at the track in 1980. Many championship steeds and jockeys have run in the Super Derby, attracting much attention and making it the one of the top races of the year in USA. Harrah's Entertainment purchased Louisiana Downs in 2002, maintaining the tracks high standards. In 2004 quarter horse racing was introduced to the race track creating even more race days and excitement.

Harrah's Louisiana Downs' thoroughbred racing season is hosted from April to October and is followed by the quarter horse season from October to November. The main dirt track is an oval-shaped 1 mile horse racing track. The inner turf course measures 7/8 mile and 50 feet. Post times vary and are listed on the track's schedule. Racegoers can choose from 5280 seats on the grandstand or 3460 seats at the clubhouse. Admission to races is currently free of charge.

On Harrah's Louisiana Downs' property is a 150 000 square foot casino with an entertainment zone. This amazing structure offers race enthusiasts the opportunity to watch simulcast racing or try your hand on one of the 1 400 slots. Simulcast racing is very popular amongst racing fans when the live racing season is over. Dining options include the The Buffet, Louisiana Bread Company and The Steakhouse & Grill. Live performances, concerts and other fun-filled events keep patrons entertained all day. Louisiana Downs race track certainly offers an all-round racing and entertainment experience.
