Penn National Race Course was opened on 30 August 1972 by a group of civic leaders from Central Pennsylvania. Some 10,686 eager racegoers attended this opening event. During 1973 a hundred of Mountainview's racing events were transferred to Penn National from Pitt Park. Penn National Race Course will soon be adding to its already brilliant facilities. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has given Penn National Gamin, Inc. (owners or Penn National) the go ahead for a Category 1 slot machine license. The Company is planning to place the machines in the new Hollywood Casino racing and gaming facility to be set up.
