Sam Houston Horse Racing Track in Texas

The Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas, is a great place to go for good food, great entertainment and excellent live horse racing. The Sam Houston Race Park often hosts quarterhorse and thoroughbred horse racing and it also has simulcast horse racing so you can always expect to enjoy great horse racing. Besides all this, the race park also has great restaurants and bars and it often hosts a number of entertaining events such as music showcases, trade shows and fireworks displays.

The main racetrack is one mile in length and oval in shape. There are approximately 955 feet from the last turn to the finish line, which makes for some exciting finishes. The main track has two chutes to cater to races of varying lengths. There is also a turf course which takes hugs the inner rail of the main track and measures approximately seven furlongs in length with one chute. There are also 280 box seats, 470 counters seats and a whole grandstand where you can watch the races from. The Sam Houston Race Park race season continues virtually all season long. The first series of thoroughbred races take place between January and April. They are followed by quarterhorse races which take place between June and September, and then the year is rounded up with more thoroughbred racing between November and December. You seldom get to enjoy a better line-up!

Five concession stands, eight bars and two restaurants provide you with all the refreshment you need. The food prepared for both restaurants as well as the luxury suites and various events that are hosted at the track is overseen by the tracks own executive chef, Francis T. Walters. His award winning cuisine combined with the tracks beautiful multi-tiered dining room certainly makes for an excellent day at the races.
