The Belmont Stakes. [00:13]
Today is the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes! So as everyone probably heard I'll Have Another is scratched. Which means there is no Triple Crown this year. I probably will either want Dullahan to win or Pants On Fire's stablemate :) Who will you want to win? Let me know in the comments below! - Got new racing clips! :)

Belmont Stakes (2012) - Union Rags Wins at the Wire [02:52]
Belmont Stakes (2012) - Union Rags Wins at the Wire The Belmont Stakes ran Saturday evening, but anticipation for the big race dwindled suddenly when on Friday it was announced that favorite to win and Triple Crown contender, I'll Have Another, scratched and subsequently retired due to a leg injury. However, the show must go on... and it did, with Union Rags taking the win for the 2012 Belmont Stakes. Union Rags prevailed in the field of 11 3-year-olds in the 144th running of the Belmont, but even so, there wasn't much excitement among fans entering the huge racetrack hours before the race. The Belmont win is worth $600000 out of a $1 million purse. "I don't have words to describe it," jockey John Velazquez said. "For (trainer Michael Matz) to finally rise up to the top again, I'm very, very happy. Union Rags passed by Painter at the finish line, giving Valazquez his second career win. Union Rags came in 7th at the Kentucky Derby and bypassed the Preakness Stakes altogether. As for I'll Have Another, he did make an appearance, however. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will instead be led to the winner's circle before the race for a retirement ceremony. "We felt that this would be a fitting ceremonial retirement for an incredible racehorse," I'll Have Another's trainer Doug O'Neill said. "There are many fans who traveled from near and far to see I'll Have Another today, and we wanted to give them a chance to help us send him off to retirement." With a Triple Crown ...

Union Rags - 2012 Belmont Stakes (G1) [02:53]
All trainer Michael Matz wanted was a chance for Union Rags to show what kind of horse he is. Saturday afternoon at Belmont Park, the hard-luck colt got that chance and the result was a thrilling victory over Paynter in the 144th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes. Coming off a troubled-trip seventh in the Kentucky Derby, Union Rags was brilliantly ridden by new jockey John Velazquez in the 1 ½-mile Belmont, which lost its marquee horse on Friday when Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another was retired with an injured tendon. In the Derby and Preakness winner's absence, the crowd of 85811 -- the largest for a non-Triple Crown Belmont and the sixth-largest in Belmont Park history -- made Derby third-place finisher Dullahan the slight favorite in the "Test of the Champion," with Union Rags a close second choice, also at 5-2.

Press Conference following the Scratch of I'll Have Another from Saturday's Belmont Stakes [12:48]
Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I'll Have Another was withdrawn from Saturday's 144th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes and retired, a little more than 24 hours before his attempt to become the first horse in 34 years to win the Triple Crown. In a ceremonial tribute, jockey Mario Gutierrez will be aboard I'll Have Another as he leads the post parade for the Belmont Stakes (post time 6:40 pm, NBC 4:30-7 pm). Trainer Doug O'Neill said I'll Have Another had developed a swelling in his left front tendon that was the beginning of tendonitis. "This is extremely tough for all of us. It's far from tragic but it's extremely disappointing," said O'Neill, who described the injury as a "freakish thing" during a 1 pm news conference at Belmont Park. "He has been a little quiet the last few days of galloping but his legs have been great. Yesterday he galloped great, but in the afternoon we noticed some loss of definition in his left front leg ... we prayed he kind of hit himself and that it was a little bit of skin irritation. We did him up in a special poultice, and this morning he looked great. We did just a little easy gallop with him this morning. I thought he looked great on the track. "Cooling out, you could tell the swelling was back," he said. "I talked with Mr. [J. Paul] Reddam and immediately we got Dr. [Jim] Hunt over here. He scanned him and he said it was the start of tendonitis in his [superficial] left front tendon and ... you give him three to six ...
