1994 Hollywood Preview Stakes [01:09]
After running six furlongs in a sprightly 1:08 4/5 at Santa Anita on Oct. 23, Afternoon Deelites came back Sunday in the $95250 Hollywood Prevue Breeders' Cup and won by three lengths with virtually no encouragement from jockey Kent Desormeaux. His seven-furlong time of 1:20 4/5 broke the stakes record by a fifth of a second and came within two-fifths of the track record, which was set by the 7-year-old Memo, another Mandella trainee, in the Triple Bend Handicap in July. With two scratches, there were only three horses for Afternoon Deelites to beat, and he left them with an electrifying burst of speed at the top of the stretch. Valid Wager, the 13-10 favorite who had been second in the Arlington-Washington Futurity, finished second, four lengths ahead of Hunt for Missouri. Southern Tempo, the leader after a half-mile, was last, beaten by 18 lengths. "That horse that won accelerated like no other 2-year-old I've seen this year," said Chris McCarron, who rode Hunt for Missouri. "He accelerated like maybe Mandella was running a 4-year-old against us. Maybe they ought to check this one's lip tattoo." Like Soul of the Matter, Afternoon Deelites is a West Virginia-bred and a son of Private Terms. Bacharach said that Afternoon Deelites' dam, Intimate Girl, was injured and retired after running only one race. Soul of the Matter, this year's Super Derby winner, was fifth in the Kentucky Derby and fourth in the Breeders' Cup Classic. "This colt's a lot like Soul of the Matter ...
Shesa Streakin Jet & Teri - Poles, 2012 WSCA Championship Show [01:28]
Roanie did well for a 4-year-old and handled everything so great! Her end pole was wide, but otherwise it was a smooth pattern.
Teri & Shesa Streakin Jet/Kristin & Dual Copy - Ribbon Race, Champ Show 2012 [00:51]
Roanie, 4-year-old, and Copy, 5-year-old had an awesome run for Kristin and I at Champ Show. This was their 2nd time in the Coliseum ever and the 2nd time we have done Ribbon Race together ever. Those baby girls handled it like pros. AND, we got 17th out of 90+ teams.
Dominus - 2012 Bernard Baruch (G2) [01:57]
Making his first start on turf, Dominus led every step under a measured ride from Julien Leparoux and rolled to a 1 ¼-length victory over even-money favorite Data Link in Saturday's Grade 2, $250000 Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga Race Course. The 4-year-old Smart Strike ridgling, who got an eight-pound break in the weights from the favorite, went to the lead a few strides out of the gate and galloped through unpressured fractions of 24.29, 48.63 and 1:12.26 over the firm turf. Accelerating as he came out of the far turn, Dominus quickly opened up on his five rivals and was never seriously threatened by Data Link's late run. "He was the only speed in the race, he just galloped easy, broke easy, and it was pretty easy for him," said Leparoux. "It was very nice for me at the end. He's a nice horse. First time on the grass, he was relaxed." Dominus's winning time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:40.32.
