1999 Belmont Stakes - Lemon Drop Kid : Full ABC Broadcast [01:01:11]
Charismatic, standing on the threshold of sweeping the Triple Crown, missed his date with history yesterday when he ran third in the Belmont Stakes behind the 29-1 long shot Lemon Drop Kid. And, worse, in a stunning finish to the saga of the colt who won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness at long odds, Charismatic fractured two bones in his left front leg as he crossed the finish line. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening but it ended his racing career. It also brought a sorrowful close to what had been a rousing day at Belmont Park, with a record crowd of 85818 on hand in perfect weather to see if Charismatic could become the first horse in 21 years to win the Triple Crown. Instead, he became the 15th horse, and the third in three years, to win the Derby and Preakness but fail to cross the finish line first in the mile-and-a-half race. Charismatic, who ran in a claiming race in February before surging to the top of the 3-year-old racing world in the past two months, will undergo surgery late this morning. Dr. Larry Bramlage, a veterinarian from Lexington, Ky., reported that the colt had cracked the cannon bone just above the ankle and had fractured the sesamoid behind it. ''It is not life-threatening,'' Bramlage said, ''but it definitely means his racing career is over. However, he should be fine as a stallion.'' Rewilding Tribute ~ Hymn to Hope [01:05]
Absolutely gutted that it ended the way it did for this horse, but thought it would be nice to remember the horse at his best, winning the St James' Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. One of the highlights of the racing year without a doubt. This isn't very good, and I didn't have many clips availabe, but wanted to make something in recognition of this beautiful, gutsy horse. Also, apologies for the poor quality in some places, but couldn't find many HD clips. I don't own any of the clips, commentary or music. Please, no nasty comments about racing, this is just a video for people to rememer the horse by. Also, don't bother commenting about whip use (FD was banned for 10 days for his use of the whip at Ascot, but even though he used it with excessive frequency that doen't mean that he actually abused the horse in any way).

Bobby Baffert Verbally Assaulted [00:25]
After a questionable call by the stewards after a post race inquiry at the Santa Anita Handicap, Bobby Baffert leaves the winners circle only to be verbally abused by irate fans. I assume the fans involved had money on another horse than the winner. The ruling was the correct one and Baffert's horse did nothing wrong, by the way!

5R Stables' Naming of the Babies [01:58]
One year after our horse trailer picked up three thin and scrawny Thoroughbred yearlings from Center Brook Farm we are celebrating the official draw of their names to be entered in the Jockey Club Registry. Members of 5R Racehorse Stable joined us at Belmont Racetrack on Jockey Club Gold Cup Day to attend the drawing and toast our horses. Thanks to all of you supporting us and following the progress of our horses.
