Belmont Stakes (2012) - Union Rags Wins at the Wire [02:52]
Belmont Stakes (2012) - Union Rags Wins at the Wire The Belmont Stakes ran Saturday evening, but anticipation for the big race dwindled suddenly when on Friday it was announced that favorite to win and Triple Crown contender, I'll Have Another, scratched and subsequently retired due to a leg injury. However, the show must go on... and it did, with Union Rags taking the win for the 2012 Belmont Stakes. Union Rags prevailed in the field of 11 3-year-olds in the 144th running of the Belmont, but even so, there wasn't much excitement among fans entering the huge racetrack hours before the race. The Belmont win is worth $600000 out of a $1 million purse. "I don't have words to describe it," jockey John Velazquez said. "For (trainer Michael Matz) to finally rise up to the top again, I'm very, very happy. Union Rags passed by Painter at the finish line, giving Valazquez his second career win. Union Rags came in 7th at the Kentucky Derby and bypassed the Preakness Stakes altogether. As for I'll Have Another, he did make an appearance, however. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will instead be led to the winner's circle before the race for a retirement ceremony. "We felt that this would be a fitting ceremonial retirement for an incredible racehorse," I'll Have Another's trainer Doug O'Neill said. "There are many fans who traveled from near and far to see I'll Have Another today, and we wanted to give them a chance to help us send him off to retirement." With a Triple Crown ...

State of Play - 2011 With Anticipation (G2) [02:01]
Well-rated on the lead, State of Play turned back Optimizer's stretch bid to win Saratoga Race Course's Grade 2, $150000 With Anticipation for 2-year-olds on Thursday. State of Play cleared up front, dictating fractions of 24.24, 49.78 and 1:14.64 before Optimzer drew to the pacesetter's throatlatch with a furlong to travel. Given left-handed encouragement by Ramon Dominguez, State of Play brushed off that challenge to prevail by a half-length. The final time for 1 1/16 miles over the firm Mellon turf course was 1:43.97. The With Anticipation was State of Play's first start around two turns, having come from just off the pace to win a 5 ½-furlong turf sprint on July 27 at the Spa.

huge interest in the Bumper at Ffos Las [01:31]
Well normally many racegoers leave when it's time for the 'bumper'; usually the last race . But not down at Ffos Las. As in Ireland, bumpers hold great interest. Though there are no jumps (the idea being it's a introduction to the racecourse for jumps horses who haven't run on the flat) to connections and friends here the bumper is a time of great excitement to see the potential of these young horses for the first time. I have never known a race with so many tips flying around!!! I bet on Kuilsriver and Silver Commander as this bumper was 1 mile 6 furlongs; a shorter distance than the 2 miles these races are normally; and that distance should suit them. It's a good trick question in pub quizzes. What's the shortest race under national hunt rules?' It's not two miles after all! I also had a tip for Magical Man too so could these big priced outsiders upset 'Keys'; the horse sent by 1990 Derby winning flat trainer Roger Charlton from Beckhampton? I'd had a great day betting but a 25/1 winner would be a great end to the day... The temperature had fallen almost ten degrees to just plus five but most people braved the cold and remained to watch in an exciting atmosphere...
