Horse was Norah Jo. Great start to have as an apprentice jockey. Coincidentally we paid $19.75 for the win, which is the year i was born. I weighed just 38kg and had to add 12.5 kg to make the allocated weight of 50.5kg (4.5kg apprentice allowance)

Pure Gossip - 2011 Miss Grillo S. (G3) [02:03]
Despite a strong work on the turf and a understated grass pedigree, there wasn't much chatter about Pure Gossip in advance of Sunday's Grade 3, $100000 Miss Grillo at Belmont Park. After defeating seven other 2-year-old fillies by 6 ½ lengths at odds of 23-1, she was the talk of the town. Tucked in third along the rail as Take It Inside led through an opening half-mile in 48.99, Pure Gossip angled out between horses, sprinted to the lead with a furlong to go, and drew clear under apprentice Ryan Curatolo to pass her turf tryout with flying colors. Her final time for 1 1/16 miles over soft turf was 1:47.71. The third-longest price on the board, she returned $48.20.

The Mig's "Fan of the Day" Contest at Saratoga [02:31]
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has started a "Fan of the Day" promotion in which former jockey and current NYRA television analyst Richard Migliore will select two lucky fans for special behind-the-scenes access. Every weekday -- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday -- for the remainder of the meet, Migliore will randomly select two winners from the crowd. He will then accompany them into the paddock before a race, and then to the winner's circle to watch the race. Additionally, after the race they will take part in the winner's circle photograph ceremony and receive copies of the photo to memorialize their "Fan of the Day" experience. Migliore, who began riding in 1980 and a year later won the Eclipse Award as the nation's top apprentice, retired in 2010 after winning more than 4400 races, including 362 stakes. Twice the leading rider in New York, "The Mig" currently serves as a NYRA racing office associate in addition to his role as a broadcast analyst.
