First Horse RIding Falls at TAFE 2012 [03:00]
This is the Certificate II in Racing (Stablehand), where the students have to ride everyday as part of the course. This particular day was wet and the genious idea to try bareback riding for the first time was highly ..... um ...... anticipated!! Most of these riders have only been riding for the past 4/5weeks in the course and some have hopes to move onto track riding and/or even a jockey. Needless to say this was a fun day and provided a great laugh! The fantasic horses Brermuda abd Indy did fantastic job at giving the students their first falls off a horse!!! One of the best days of the TAFE couse yet!!

Churchill Downs Stakes (Stakes) FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. By subscription of $300 each, which should accompany the nomination or by Supplementary Nomination of $20000 each at the time of entry. $2000 to pass the entry box; $2000 additional to start, with $400000 added. After payment of 1% to all owners of horses finishing sixth through last, 62% of the remaining purse shall be paid to the owner of the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth and 3% to fifth. Weight: 123 lbs. Non-winners of a Grade I stakes since November 4 allowed 3 lbs.; a Grade I or II stakes since September 5, 5 lbs. The maximum number of starters for the Churchill Downs will be limited to fourteen (14). If more than fourteen entries pass the entry box preference will be given to graded stakes winners (in order I-II-III), then highest 2011-2012 earnings. Any horse excluded from running because of the aforementioned preference shall be refunded the entry fee and supplementary nomination fee if applicable. Starters to be named through the entry box at the usual time of closing. All supplementary nominations are required to pay entry and starting fees it they participate. Trophy to winning owner. Dullahan ran, too, as did Daddy Long Legs, Creative Cause, Take Charge Indy, Alpha, Optimizer and Prospective.The same horses are expected to line up again on Saturday in the Kentucky Derby, just six months after the Breeders' Cup Juvenile on the same Churchill Downs track set the stage for the Run for the Roses.While no horse has distinguished itself as a clear-cut favorite ahead of the post-position draw on Wednesday, as many as nine horses who'll start Saturday also participated in the premier race for 2-year-olds."When you look back at the race, it was a key," Union Rags trainer Michael Matz said. "And, a lot of those horses have done well. I think this is a pretty competitive crop."

GIST Fundraiser (Spring 2012) [05:41]
In March 2012 Dover Downs hosted a fund raiser to help people who suffer from GIST, a rare type of cancer. Participants walked over the Dover Downs five-eighths mile oval with cancer survivor Bob Kinsey leading the way! Over $10000 was raised on this fabulous day!
