No horse has completed a sweep since then. Real Quiet became the 14th to lose it in the final race in the series, and lost by the narrowest margin among those 14. Afterward, the stewards suggested that he might have been disqualified if he had won the race because he brushed Victory Gallop twice in the homestretch. For the second year in a row, the trainer Bob Baffert was foiled on the threshold of completing a Triple Crown. He was thwarted last year when Silver Charm lost the Belmont to Touch Gold by three-quarters of a length. He was foiled again this year when Real Quiet was nipped by Victory Gallop.
