Well, those of you who have been following my videos (and my old channel eventerkatie84) will know that our horses are all rescues off the track. We rescue them, rehabilitate them, re-train them, and re-home them. My dear friend Georgie who not only finds these horses, but houses them on her property, asked me to put this video together, and it turned out well so I thought I may as well upload it! All the clips are in chronological order starting with Toby (Our first project) then King, and finally Roger. These horses were all bound for slaughter, and have all turned out to be lovely riding horses, and have even been out competing! We have definitely had our challenges with them but so far it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, not to mention how much we have both learned along the way! We are now both employed int he horse industry and are learning more and more every day which in turn has been a huge benefit to us and the horses. We are looking forward to keeping our ottb rescue going for as long as possible, and I'm looking forward to buying my own acreage to step the ...

Look Ta Fly - Novice Class - Barrel Bash - High Island Arena - 19Mar11 [00:45]
Fly's very first 'official' competition. I pushed her too hard and it didn't turn out the greatest, but I will go back to slow work and keep testing the boundaries now and then! :)

2011 Cicada (G3) - Quantum Miss [01:24]
Quantum Miss showed sharp early speed and held off a late charge from Coax Liberty to post a half-length success in the 19th running of the Grade 3, $100000 Cicada for 3-year-old fillies on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack. Looking to rebound off a fifth as the favorite in the Grade 3 Old Hat at Gulfstream Park on January 5, Quantum Miss dueled with Roman Treasure through an opening quarter of 22.49, began to sneak away from that rival nearing the quarter-pole, and resisted a late bid from slow-starting Coax Liberty. "She went a little fast the first part of the race," said winning jockey Cornelio Velasquez. "I tried to relax her, but she fought it too much. I had enough horse at the end." Quantum Miss, the 9-5 favorite in the field of seven, returned $5.80 for a $2 win wager and completed six furlongs on the inner track in 1:11.99. "I was very impressed," said Tony Dutrow, who trains Quantum Miss for owner/breeder Daniel M. Ryan. "She broke right on top, took the worst of it along the backstretch, and held off what looked like a very good field." The Cicada was the second stakes victory for Quantum Miss, victorious in the Mountain Stakes for Pennsylvania-breds at Penn National on November 24. Overall, the daughter of Smoke Glacken is 3-0-1 from 5 starts with $150750 in earnings, including the $60000 winner's share of the Cicada purse. Dutrow said Quantum Miss will likely remain in sprints, with the Grade 1, six-furlong Prioress at Belmont Park on Monday, July 4 serving as ...

Mekong Melody - The Long Island (G3) [02:51]
Mekong Melody took the shortest trip around the track and kicked clear after finding room in the upper stretch to register an impressive victory in the Grade 3, $150000 Long Island Handicap on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack. Looking to rebound off a 10th-place finish in the Grade 1 EP Taylor at Woodbine on October 16, Mekong Melody was angled over to the inside by jockey Alex Solis and rated under firm hold in third through a half-mile of 51.73. After falling back to fourth along the backstretch, Mekong Melody continued to wait behind horses on the final turn, found a seam at the top of the lane, and drew away under a drive to prevail by 3 ¾ widening lengths over runner-up Daveron. "I had a great trip," said winning jockey Alex Solis. "I saved all the ground and in the stretch, I got lucky. I got a little opening there and when I asked her, she went through and finished very strong." Mekong Melody, the 7-2 third choice, returned $9.40 for a $2 win wager to her backers in the crowd of 4132 and completed the 1 ½-mile journey in 2:30.74. Owned by David Egan, Mekong Melody has now won four black-type events in her career, including triumphs earlier this year at Woodbine in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly on June 18 and the Flaming Page on September 26. Her trainer, Toronto-based Roger Attfield, has won four other stakes on the NYRA circuit in 2010: the Grade 2 New York on June 19 with Lady Shakespeare, the Grade 2 Lake George on July 28 with Perfect Shirl, the De La Rose on August ...
