Little Mike went on to win the grade 1, $2727000 Breeders' Cup Turf a week later.

Sr .Champ Onboard 10/13/12 - Twin State / Feature Race [00:31]
Onboard footage of the Sr. Champ Feature Race from Twin State Speedway in New Hampshire. Today is the Fall Challenge 2012 Special Event. We got to race on the big 1/3 mile oval, not the short oval. I thought that racing on the bigger oval was a little bit more fun than the smaller oval, since you can run wide open on the bigger oval. My Dad forgot to record the Heat Race. I guess his age is starting to kick in. I started in 3rd for the Heat Race and finished 2nd. For the Feature Race, I started 2nd. I somewhat knew that we were going to be at a disadvantage when I ran in Practice. Dave in the #5 kart and the other three people in the #11, #13 and #82 kart ran on Open Motors. I ran on my WKA Animal Motor and it was a huge mistake to run on that motor. We should have brought our Open Motor to the race, since I would have a chance at the victory. We ran well though with the WKA Animal Motor and was somewhat competitive. I possible had a chance to pull off an upset today and win with a WKA motor, while the rest of the field ran on Open Motors. Unfortunetely, on the first lap, my race ended. The #82 kart got around me going into the first turn. I had a run on him coming out of the first bend, but he cut me off on the outside line. In the second bend, he tries to pass Dave in the #5 kart and loses it. I almost successfully evaded him, but my kart got into the marbles and slammed the outside wall. I bent my right front spindle and damaged the right front tire. This is why I can ...

1994 Breeders' Cup Classic + Post Race [10:15]
The Breeders' Cup horse that arrived last at Churchill Downs ran first Saturday as Concern beat Tabasco Cat by a neck in the $3-million Classic, ending on a high note a long year of unfulfilled promise for the 3-year-old colt from Maryland. Trainer Dick Small's style is to ship a horse to a race at a late hour, and by van instead of plane. He made no exception with Concern, even though the late-running son of Broad Brush was appearing in the most important stake of his 21-race career. A 10 1/2-hour trip brought Concern and the trainer to Kentucky at 3 am Friday, long after all the other Breeders' Cup horses had settled in and been tested during workouts over the Churchill Downs track. Concern did all of his Breeders' Cup preparations at Pimlico, where he worked a mile on Monday. "I find that most horses do better in their own surroundings," Small said. "It's better not to disrupt their daily rhythms." Small played it even closer to the vest when Concern ran in the Travers in August. For that race, the horse was driven to Upstate New York and arrived at 4 am on the day of the race, about 13 hours before post time. He lost by a neck to Holy Bull, the probable horse of the year who didn't run in the Breeders' Cup. Being beaten by necks and running second and third have been Concern's style, a rut that ended in time for his owner-breeder, Robert Meyerhoff, to collect a purse of $1.56 million, more than half a million dollars more than his colt had earned from all his previous ...

1989 Breeders' Cup Classic + Pre & Post Race [34:11]
Sunday Silence grittily held off a desperate late charge by Easy Goer to win the $3 million Breeders' Cup Classic by a neck today at Gulfstream Park. The tight finish of this fourth meeting between the decade's greatest racing rivals brought a crowd of more than 50000 to a roar and settled the sport's major titles. Sunday Silence, who had beaten Easy Goer in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness before Easy Goer trounced him in the Belmont Stakes, is assured of being voted thoroughbred racing's Horse of the Year. Emotions ran high long after the official sign was posted. For Sunday Silence's backers and handlers, this was a long-awaited day of vindication. After the Belmont, their colt had been widely dismissed as only second-best despite holding a 2-1 edge in the rivalry. For Easy Goer's many fans, who made him the 1-2 betting favorite today, the result was flabbergasting. They found some excuses for him, but were devastated to see their colt emerge from this season as merely the second-best 3-year-old instead of being acclaimed as the champion of the decade. It was small consolation for Easy Goer's connections, the Ogden Phipps family and the trainer Shug McGaughey, that they won two of the six earlier Cup races today, with Rhythm in the Juvenile and Dancing Spree in the Sprint. Sunday Silence, a 3-year-old son of Halo and the Understanding mare Wishing Well, paid $6 for $2 to win as the second choice in the Classic betting and ran the mile and a quarter in 2:00 1/5 ...

Reily's Races (9-29-11LAUREL) [02:26]
Reily's very last race. His owner decided to donate him to Thoroughbred Placement Resources so they could find him the best home. I saw a picture of him on Facebook, posted on Oct. 25, 2011 by an eventing barn that I'm friends with who were spreading the word for TPR. I was directed to contact the track liaison, and by Oct. 31st I was driving 5 hours to MD to look at him. I bought him on Halloween and brought him home a week later on Nov. 6th. He's proving to be the horse of a lifetime and I can't wait for the years to come!
