1991 Pacific Classic [04:13]
With the screams of 28134 fans rising an octave with every last stride he took to the wire, Best Pal caught Twilight Agenda in the final 30 yards Saturday to score a one-length victory in the $1-million Pacific Classic, the richest race in the 52-year history of Del Mar. Because he was a 3-year-old in a field of older horses, Best Pal carried eight pounds less than the others in the 1 1/4-race that was expected to establish the horse of the year. Instead, Best Pal's victory complicated the issue, with Farma Way, the 3-2 favorite, running fifth after leading until the quarter pole, and Festin, his late-running archrival in four other races, ending up fourth. Best Pal was bred and is raced by John and Betty Mabee, San Diegans who have been part of the Del Mar family for more than 20 years. John Mabee is chairman of the board at the track and was one of the forces behind creation of the Pacific Classic. "This horse is the public's choice," Mabee said after Best Pal's $550000 payday. "We just wanted to run a horse in this race that wouldn't disgrace us. I thought he was better coming into this race than the press gave him credit for, but maybe this was just owner prejudice. "There's no question that he's got a fan base. He would have been 15-1 instead of 9-2 if they had paid attention to the handicappers in the papers." Twilight Agenda, Farma Way's stablemate from trainer Wayne Lukas' barn, took the lead from Farma Way heading into the stretch but finished second, 2 3/4 ...

2003 Kentucky Derby: Full Broadcast [01:05:32]
There on the track was Empire Maker, the impeccably bred favorite with a tender foot, a cocky trainer from Brooklyn and a plurality of the public's money on his back. There was Atswhatimtalknbout, the Hollywood horse, partly owned by movie royalty, and there, too, was Indian Express, the rhythm-and-bluegrass colt whose owner was a legendary record producer in the 1950's. But for the two minutes that count the most on the first Saturday in May, the real star was a New York-bred gelding named Funny Cide, who was sent off at the ''yeah, right'' odds of better than 12-1 and romped off with a victory of a length and three-quarters in the 129th running of the Kentucky Derby. But forget for a moment Funny Cide's glitzier and supposedly more formidable competition. By any standard, this was an improbable victory. A New York-bred had never won the Derby, and the last time a gelding won was in 1929, when Clyde Van Dusen posted a two-length victory. The public was caught unawares, and six buddies from Sackets Harbor, NY, who own Funny Cide and run under the banner of Sackatoga Stable with four other partners were stunned by their good fortune. ''We are a three-horse stable,'' said Jackson Knowlton, one of the owners who bought the gelding for $75000 in a private sale. ''We are the little guys in the game. Everyone who dreams in this game, who owns two or five horses, look at what you can accomplish. Little did we know.'' Maybe it should not have been a surprise that a group of ...

The Levade - Henry preforms the Levade and rears on command [03:39]
Henry rearing on command on the ground, with a rider and preforming the Levade. PLEASE READ BELOW to see how I trained him to do this. The clips and some of the pics are older. I will post more recent stuff when I can. ~~~ I started on the lunge line with him, I noticed if I had him face me and shook the whip at his legs he would jump up a bit and take off. I used this to my advantage by stopping him if he ran and praising him for the upward jump. I then combined that with the word UP he caught on right away the first time we worked on it. He learned to do a small rear in about a weeks time. I used a whip to signal him and the motion of my body towards him and with my arms up. Soon he would preform for both the word and the motion. He went higher as we kept practicing. I also would tap him on the legs occasionally with the whip if he was not going as high as before. If I would swing the whip at him the same way with out taping him he would also get the hint to go higher. ~~~ To get him to do it while ridden I took the whip and moved it up in the air near his head where he could see it and kept the word UP with it. He figured this out in 1 day as well. After that it was just a lot of practice to make it better. Now I can signal him with the word, the whip, or the motion of my arms all while on his back. ~~~ The Levade I did not train him for this in the traditional way. I took his rearing and asked him for collection and a head set while giving the command to rear. I did ...

2012 Burris Money Series: Race #2 - Sr. Champ Animal Feature [06:23]
Another awesome day of racing at Hunterstown Speedway for race #2 of the 2012 Burris Money Series! Corey Smith goes for a WILD ride in this video. I had to stop recording to go and help him shut off the engine. The header actually caught on fire shortly after I stopped recording. Thankfully Corey was ok, and didn't even know that it was on fire until someone told him! Congrats to Josh Peck on the win!
