Eliza goes out to support her local Hunt on Boxing Day near the Forest of Dean; the Cotswold Vale. Point to Pointing is amateur jumps racing and both horses and riders learn their trade in the hunting field. As well as pointers; hunting also offers a super activity for retired race horses where they can still enjoy themselves; and a great way for young children to learn how to ride and negotiate obstacles on their ponies. The activity of foxhunting protects rural habitats from development and is thus why many Conservationists and geographers support it.

Hunting provides a great field in which older horses can still enjoy life to the full; and young horses and riders can learn the skills necessary for riding in horse racing at a later age. All point to point horses qualify to run in races by hunting.
