El potrillo argentino Kung Fu Mambo ganó de abuso el clásico "Ricardo Ortiz de Zevallos", que fue opacado por una desafortunada actuación del jinete Víctor Díaz, conductor de Loyal Jason en contra del tordillo White Spirit, que resultó el favorito de la carrera. Después de la carrera, Carlos Trujillo jinete de White Spirit presentó reclamo y los comisarios después de varios minutos, procedió a dar el conforme de la carrera.
