Secretariat; The Michael Jordan Of Racehorses [02:32]
RIP Big Red ************************* PLS WATCH IN HD ;) & DON'T STEAL THIS ! ************************* Give my regards to Helen Bates "Penny" Chenery/Tweedy.. I wish you all the best ! *Secretariat (March 30, 1970 -- October 4, 1989) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, that in 1973 became the first US Triple Crown champion in 25 years, setting new race records in two of the three events in the Series—the Kentucky Derby (1:592⁄5), and the Belmont Stakes (2:24)—records that still stand today. Secretariat was sired by Bold Ruler out of Somethingroyal, by Princequillo. He was foaled at Meadow Farm in Caroline County, Virginia. Like his famous predecessor Man o' War, Secretariat was a large chestnut colt and was given the same nickname, "Big Red." Secretariat's grand sire, Nasrullah, is also the great-great grand sire of 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew. Owned by Penny Chenery, he was trained by Lucien Laurin and mainly ridden by Canadian jockey Ron Turcotte, along with apprentice jockey Paul Feliciano (first two races), and veteran Eddie Maple (last race). He raced in Chenery's Meadow Stable's blue and white checkered colors and his groom was Eddie Sweat. Secretariat stood approximately 16.2 hands (66 inches, 168 cm) tall, and weighed 1175 pounds (533 kg), with a 75 inch girth, in his racing prime.

Alpha - 2012 Count Fleet [02:00]
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin unleashed a pair of eye-catching 3-year-olds Saturday afternoon at Aqueduct Racetrack, with odds-on favorite Alpha taking the $150000 Count Fleet by 2 ½ lengths and Captivating Lass coming on late to capture the $100000 Busanda for fillies in a thrilling finish. Carrying the colors of Godolphin Stable, Alpha raced in third, well off the rail, as Il Villano barreled into the lead and carried the field of seven sophomores through an opening quarter-mile in 24.48 seconds, a half in 49.06 and three-quarters in 1:13.91 over the fast inner track. Edging up three-wide on the turn, Alpha took aim on the front-runners and gained the lead with 220 yards to go, cruising under the wire in 1:42.83 for the mile and 70 yards and galloping out well.
