Clear Attempt - 2012 Poker S. (G3) [02:10]
Clear Attempt rewarded his connections for their confidence by springing an 8-1 upset in the Grade 3 Poker on Wednesday at Belmont, giving Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott and owners Martin and Pam Wygod their second straight victory in the one-mile turf race. Even though Clear Attempt was eligible for the second allowance condition, Mott and the Wygods, who won the 2011 Poker with Courageous Cat, decided to enter the regally bred 4-year-old in the $150000 Poker. The colt handled the rise in class with aplomb, tracking pacesetter Yield Bogey behind fractions of 48.12 and 1:11.22, wresting command in midstretch, and shrugging off a challenge from even-money favorite Compliance Officer to win by 1 ¾ lengths. Yield Bogey finished third, an additional half-length behind Compliance Officer.

I'll Have Another out of the Belmont Stakes [01:46]
An undisclosed injury has taken I'll Have Another out of the Belmont Stakes and out of the running for the Triple Crown. A press conference is scheduled for 1 pm ET. There were indications this morning that something was amiss. Trainer Doug O'Neill took I'll Have Another to the track for his morning jog hours earlier than he had been going for the past three weeks. O'Neill then left the Belmont track without speaking to the media, and owner Paul Reddam was also not available. That was highly unusual for what had been a media-friendly group. "I was watching him this morning," said trainer Ken McPeek, who has two horses in Saturday's race -- Unstoppable U and Atigun. "I wanted to see what his energy level was like, his aura, and the screen [on his stall] was closed. I thought, 'What's that about?' There was people in there. It was a little unusual." Rumors began to circulate late morning that something was wrong with the horse, and O'Neill confirmed the shocking news on The Dan Patrick Show. "It's too bad," said McPeek. "It's a hard thing. I feel really bad for the connections. I feel terrible for them. Saturday's Belmont Stakes were highly anticipated, as I'll Have Another was on the cusp of becoming the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown. Never a favorite in any of his races, the three-year-old I'll Have Another was a 4/5 favorite to win the final leg of the horse racing's most elusive prize. "Now," McPeek said, "it's wide open."

Body found at Kentucky Derby track [01:00]
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Police say they are investigating a body found in the stable area of Churchill Downs the morning after the Kentucky Derby as a homicide. But there is no connection to Kentucky Derby winner I'll Have Another. Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley also said Sunday the death didn't appear to have any association with Churchill Downs. That's the historic Louisville track that on Saturday saw a record attendance of more than 165000 for the 138th running of the Derby. Smiley says the body was found inside a barn just four barns away from where I'll Have Another was kept. The Derby winner and his trainers were busy with post-Derby media activities Sunday morning, with little talk of the activity at the barn about 150 yards away.
