Lewis Hammilton last 5 Laps GP ABU DHABI 2012 [07:10]
Lewis Hammilton last 5 Laps GP ABU DHABI 2012 LEWIS HAMMILTON POLE POSITION Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton,[1] MBE (born 7 January 1985) is a British Formula One racing driver from England, currently racing for the McLaren team. He is the 2008 Formula One World Champion. Hamilton was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.[2] In December 1995, at the age of ten, he approached McLaren team principal Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards ceremony and told him, "I want to race for you one day ... I want to race for McLaren." Less than three years later McLaren and Mercedes-Benz signed him to their Young Driver Support Programme.[3] After winning the British Formula Renault, Formula Three Euroseries, and GP2 championships on his way up the racing career ladder,[3] he drove for McLaren in 2007, making his Formula One debut 12 years after his initial encounter with Dennis. Hamilton's contract for the McLaren driver development program made him the youngest ever driver to secure a contract which later resulted in a Formula One drive.[4] Coming from a mixed background, with a black father and white mother,[3][5] Hamilton is often labelled "the first black driver in Formula One",[2][3][5][6][7] although Willy T. Ribbs tested an F1 car in 1986.[8] He is also the first driver of black heritage to win a major race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in any discipline. PC MPP John O'Toole speaking at Queen's Park rally for Ontario's horse racing industry [00:40]
On Monday, March 26, members and supporters of Ontario's horse-racing industry showed up at Queen's Park en masse to protest the Ontario Liberal Government's decision to close slot parlours at a number of provincial raceways and inexplicably walk away from the mutually-beneficial and highly-successful slots-at-racetracks contractual partnership. With buses from all over the province converging on Queen's Park, more than 1500 individuals, including MPPs, representatives from all of Ontario's horsemen's groups and other political representatives, congregated in order to let elected leaders and the mass media know that the industry will not take the Liberals' hasty, misinformed, and reckless decision in stride. In closing multiple raceway slots parlours and planning to step away from the economic machine which is the slots-at-racetracks program, the Provincial Liberal Government has essentially taken the stance that employing 60000 Ontarians, raking in more than $1.36-billion in direct annual revenue, and creating $2-billion in annual economic impact for the province is not worth trumpeting, let alone saving. Finance Minister Dwight Duncan has been falsely referring to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Slots at Racetrack revenue sharing program as a subsidy. His claim is that the Government has been providing a $345 million annual subsidy to Ontario's Horse Racing Industry. In a recent fundraising email to supporters, the Ontario Liberal Party suggested that they are "choosing ...

SOTB Classic - Epsom Derby 1991 [07:08]
"Generous strides to Derby glory" One of the most popular and significant Derby winners in recent history was the Paul Cole trained Generous, ridden by Alan Munro. Watch how Generous clinched the 1991 Epsom Derby with remarkable ease. Twenty years on from Derby '91, the race would also be significant from a broadcasting perspective too. It is thought that this is the last horse race ever transmitted by ITV. ITV had a huge pedigree in sport, and they had nearly all the major racing contracts during the 70's and 80's. But they fell out of love with the sport since the demise of the network's flagship sports programme World of Sport. All ITV racing coverage had been passed on to Channel 4 by the 1990's. The Derby had to be simulcast on ITV and Channel 4 by law, as the race was (and still is) a listed sporting event that has to be shown on a channel with more than 95% coverage, and Channel 4 did not fit this criteria at the time. The 1991 Derby was given just a 15 minute slot on ITV, with the introductions by Nick Owen, and race coverage provided by Channel 4 Racing. Channel 4 would then show exclusive coverage of the Epsom Derby for 10 more years, until 2001, when the BBC won the rights back to show the race.
