Saratoga All Access: Annual Stewart's Ice Cream Eating Contest [02:46]
The annual Stewart's Ice Cream Eating Contest returned to Saratoga Race Course today as part of the 17th annual Travers Festival. Contestants were divided into three age groups -- kids, teens and adults -- as they competed to finish a pint of ice cream the fastest. The winners and their finish times are as follows: • Kids Category: Nicholas Demitraszek, age 12, of Tribes Hill, NY in 2 minutes and 21 seconds • Teens Category: Thomas Marola, age 16, of Scotia-Glenville, NY in 50.9 seconds • Adults Category: Mike Nagengast, age 43, of Cohoes, NY in 48.9 seconds The winner in each category received gift certificates for free ice cream, courtesy of Stewart's Shops. The Stewart's Ice Cream Eating Contest is part of the 17th annual Travers Festival, which will culminate in the 143rd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, August 25.
