Say hello to Little John Paddocks latest edition; Lottie! [01:30]
Hehe, yep this is the big surprise. Say hello to Lottie everyone! She arrived on Staurday 21st April and is the second foal to be born at Little John Paddocks. Lottie's dam, Freckles (the grey mare) was bought to be a new riding horse at LJP. And, it wasn't until a couple weeks after that she was discovered to have been pregnant! Already she'd been used in lessons and taken out on hacks! Although, this hasn't effected Lottie in the slightest. Freckles is a very proud mummy and Lottie is a very lucky filly! :D After having discovered Freckles to be pregnant, Sue (the stable owner) rang up the previous owners to complain. They previous owners of Freckles claimed to have not known about the mare's pregnancy at all. But, come on, how could you not know?! You wouldn't put a mare in the same field near a stallion would you? Unless you wanted a foal of course. We currently do not know what Lottie's sire looked like so it was a mystery on what colour she'd be when she came out. This event can relate to a previous happening back in 2010 with the piebald mare, Bailey. Bailey was discovered to have been pregnant a couple weeks at being at LJP. I just want to get some things straight: at Little John Paddocks there are only mares and geldings. NO STALLIONS! So its impossible for one of our horses to breed, OK? Good. Anyway, Bailey gave birth to a piebald colt named Beaumont (Beau for short) mid 2011 and was sold to a loving home where he'll be looked after for his whole life. The ...

Monty Roberts inspired join up on a race horse [06:26]
Blue Jay is a 5 years old race horse , who has lots of issues , due to an accident , and a bad treatment from brutal trainers , he was a lost case , very aggressive , head-shy , and dominant stallion charging and attacking people . He used to be confined in his inner world escaping from people and biting pretty heard if you come near . His jokey and him were like cats and dog and it was an everyday struggle . His owner Mohamad decided to take him out of the race and let him have a great and friendly life . I removed every single painful device , and hopefully every single painful memories . Horse have this unbeatable thing we hardly have ,COMPASSION and FORGIVENESS . Blue react so efficiently to his new life that from first day he was already bitless (from doctor Cook bridle ) in the paddock , the day after in the open desert and the challenging street without pulling or protesting , he was showing of waiting for his mouth to hurt , but found nothing in return to his behavior . Every day with Blue is a joy , discovering a graceful delicate personality, he do reject any kind of pressure but is willing to do anything you want by a simple thought even ! he ask for kindness and extreme softness in handling him as if he is made of porcelain . what he give you is a million time rewarding . Our adventure is only 3 weeks old and already Blue is another horse . I'm so proud of him you have no idea !

My Year of the Racehorse by Kevin Chong (non-fiction book trailer) [00:43]
The story of a man, a horse, and a foul-mouthed trainer in the (once) glamorous world of horse racing. Kevin Chong has grand plans. He draws up a to-do list of major milestones that will give him the life he always wanted -- and the life that will inspire awe and envy in his friends. Then Chong makes an unconventional decision: he buys a racehorse. He becomes part-owner. Just don't ask him which part. Thus Chong meets Blackie, the horse that will win his heart, even if she doesn't always win the race. He meets Rosie, the cantankerous trainer with a heart of gold. He meets assorted characters who work, live, and drink at the track. And, one by one, the items on his to-do list are replaced with horse-related ambitions. Written with keen observational humour, My Year of the Racehorse is strewn with fascinating tidbits and infused with the excitement and faded glamour of the horseracing world. Ultimately, it is the moving tale of a young man's discovery that a meaningful life can arise from the most unexpected of circumstances. About the Author Kevin Chong is the author of four books, including Neil Young Nation -- honoured as a book of the year by the Toronto Star, Globe & Mail, and Ottawa Citizen and aired as a documentary on CBC's Definitely Not the Opera -- and the novels Baroque-a-Nova and Beauty Plus Pity. He is an editor at Joyland.ca and teaches creative writing at UBC.
