2012 Breeders' Cup contender - Coil on to Sprint after staying perfect at six furlongs [01:23]
Already a Grade I winner over a route of ground last year as a 3-year-old, Coil earned an automatic berth into next month's $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (Grade I) by rallying late under Martin Garcia to win the $250000 Santa Anita Sprint Championship (Grade I) by a head over stable mate Capital Account. Since moving to Bob Baffert's barn, Coil has won 6-of-10 starts and eclipsed $1 million in career earnings by wining for the third time at the traditional six furlong sprint distance for owners Pegram or Watson or Weitman. The 7-to-1 price on Coil was by far the most generous of his career, which was previously the 9-to-2 his backers received when the Point Given colt made his first start for Baffert while breaking his maiden by over three lengths at Hollywood Park in November of 2010. Looking to move one step closer to defending his Breeders' Cup and Eclipse Award Sprint Championships from a year ago, Amazombie faded to fourth as the 4-to-5 favorite after sitting the perfect trip behind dueling leaders and getting first jump on the closers. The only 3-year-old in the group, Jimmy Creed came up the rail late to secure the show.
1979 Belmont Stakes: CBS Broadcast [18:03]
History and the long, demanding stretch at Belmont Park had caught up with Spectacular Bid. With a short distance remaining in the Belmont Stakes last Saturday, he was leading, seemingly drawing away from his seven rivals. He was four lengths in front of 12-to-1 shot General Assembly and looking just as strong as he had while rattling off victories in 12 consecutive stakes races. Just 660 yards to go to the third Triple Crown in three years. But then Spectacular Bid began to behave like a very fat man trying to run up a very steep hill. In the stretch curve he drifted out from the rail. His lead diminished. He was having trouble getting air into his lungs, and his legs seemed to desert him. With a furlong to go, he was a beaten horse, seconds away from joining the company of Pensive, Tim Tam, Carry Back, Northern Dancer, Kauai King, Forward Pass, Majestic Prince and Canonero II—the band of Derby and Preakness winners that came a cropper at Belmont. The winner, Coastal, was one of those lightly raced colts that periodically come out of old-line barns to waste Belmont pretenders. The steady Golden Act, spear-carrier-in-chief in the classic races, was second. Bid, who had been described by his trainer, Bud Delp, as the greatest horse ever to look through a bridle, was looking at the nearly four lengths of track between his nose and Coastal's as he finished third. Did Bid's young jockey, Ron Franklin, ride the horse badly? Some of the jocks in the race and those watching from ...
PASSION [00:59]
DO NOT TAKE AUDIO, I MADE IT MYSELF ;) Today, september 7th, 2012. 6 MONTHS SINCE I FIRST RODE THIS HORSE♥ I actually can't believe, time's just going so fast :'D Right now I feel like going to the hell and back with this horse. My trainer just keeps telling me that other riders want to buy him, I'm just riding so so bad, I can't find distances, Camilo is just ignoring me, and like, if someone buys him I would be devastated. Although he's COMPLETELY IGNORING ME, I feel he's the one that gives me strenght to keep moving on, and keep trying, he's building up my confidence, character and personality. Since I meet him I'm a different person. I'm just happier and nicer to other people. He has taken me from 2'3 to 3'0 wich is kinda the biggest improvement I've ever made. Jumping 2'3 courses with Gitano and suddenly start jumping 3'0 courses with Camilo... Then I fell off. That was one of the biggest confidence knocks in my life. When I got back on him I barely wanted to trot, not even speak about jumping... In the beggining of this video you can see some of my new clips, last class clips. He refused. I can't believe that, but it was MY FAULT, absolutely my fault!!! Anyways, hope you really enjoy the video!!! Frankel Clips - York Juddmonte Stakes 2012 [01:48]
Firstly, apologies for the shaky camera, zoom plus thousands of people scrambling to get a glimpse of Frankel didn't help :) Here are a few short clips of Frankel, during the Juddmonte International Stakes at York Racecourse 22/08/2012. I was grateful to be able to see the champion horse up close and it will be a day I'll always remember. Stepping up in distance, in what some thought might be his biggest challenge yet, he went on to win by seven lengths. Thank you for stopping by and watching! Feel free to visit my Channel and subscribe if you'd like to see further racing videos!
