Secretariat - The Meadow Monster [01:27]
My tribute to the mighty Secretariat. In the first two racing clips you can see this horse's big, powerful stride eating up the turf. His jockey, Ron Turcotte, once said that Secretariat was even better on the grass, after he easily won the Man o' War Stakes, and his piston-like action does seem to handle this surface effortlessly. The super slow motion clip of "Big Red" destroying the field is from the Belmont Stakes. On the Acceleration and Speed of a Racehorse [06:25]
Horse racing uses a running start where the starting gate is placed back from the point where the race clock starts. This video tries to answer the questions: 1. How fast does a horse get from the gate to the start? 2. How fast is it going when it gets there? and 3. How does this speed compare to its speed at the finish? I use the technique described in my earlier video "How to Measure Instantaneous Speed with a Camcorder" to answer these questions. It makes use of interlaced video to display two images displaced in time by half a frame time, about 1/60sec.

Hey guys-my first NEW video in like forever...Well kind of new, I made a video to this song before but when my laptop broke it got deleted along with all my other videos :( Along with losing most of my subbies and ANOTHER account, I totally lost all of my inspiration. But this song is like my favourite ever so I finally decided to remake my old video ^^ Hopefully soon I will be back to making vidoes regularly, but I have my AS level exams coming up in two weeks so at the moment, activity from me will once again be minimal.
