Sr. Champ Onboard 9/3/12 - Woodstock / Heat Race [03:13]
Onboard footage of the Sr. Champ Heat Race from the Woodstock Fair in Connecticut. The final round of the Northeast Challenge Series happens today. Due to my lousy luck at drawing numbers, I started 5th out of 6 karts. I tried to make my way up through the field, but had a hard time doing it. Woodstock is like a go-kart oval version of Monaco; it's narrow and tough to pass, but fun to drive on. I finished 3rd in the race and would start there for the Feature Race.

TVG Pacific Classic Feature - Jose Validivia Jr [02:54]
Jose Valdivia Jr. rode Rail Trip the favorite in the 2009 Pacific Classic to a third place finish. Since then both jockey and horse have faced many disappointments separately on the east coast the past several years, but both are back and hoping for redemption in this year's rendition of the TVG Pacific Classic.

Stroller's fourth race [05:09]
The horse was very late to the barriers due to saddle problems. He didn't parade and the other horses were at the barrier as he was still getting his saddle adjusted. Jockey said that he didn't want to use him up too early but going around the turn he got pushed wide by another horse (Man of Stealth I think). Jockey said the horse doesn't jump well, we corrected him on that, and then he said that he doesn't get into stride quick enough. Jockey said that just after the start it felt like the horse was running down hill. We think the horse didn't like the type of saddle used by the jockey which requires a very tight girth as it has no breast collar. This restricted the horse and was uncomfortable which is why he felt like he was running down hill. For some reason the jockey seems to punch the horse on the rump whilst in the barriers (at 38 seconds) Maybe the horse was leaning?

Saratoga All Access: Fabulous Fillies Day at Saratoga Race Course to benefit BCRF [03:50]
NYRA celebrated women and their contributions to the thoroughbred industry while raising funds to support BCRF at Fabulous Fillies Day at Saratoga Race Course. All fans who wore pink received free admission. The centerpiece of the day-long affair was the Sizzling Hot Pink Saratoga Hat Luncheon to benefit BCRF in the At the Rail Pavilion. This year's luncheon was in memory of BCRF Founder and Chairman Evelyn H. Lauder and honored thoroughbred owner and breeder Virginia Kraft Payson. The event was emceed by Jeannine Edwards from ESPN. The day featured a number of special events and activities designed to honor women of the thoroughbred industry while raising funds to support BCRF. The day's card featured an all-filly racing program in concert with the day's theme. Pink bunting, ribbons and flowers adorned the track, including a pink flower blanket on the horse statue in the Paddock. The first 1000 women (ages 16 and older) through the admission gates received a cubic zirconia and were directed to bring their stones to one of two representatives from Northeastern Fine Jewelry on track to determine if they were the recipient of a genuine diamond. Kathy Hulbert of Oak Hill, NY received a genuine diamond that qualified her to select from one of three Hearts on Fire diamond pendants valued at up to $7000, courtesy of Northeastern Fine Jewelry, during a special winner's circle presentation. Additionally, women were treated to pink hair extensions and pink polish from Complexions ...
