[barbaro tribute] the horse with wings [02:27]
First of all, it's summer which means I have a lottt more time to make videos and hopefully better ones, haha. You can tell I have more time when you don't hear terrible cuts in the music :) I made a horse racing tribute a long long time ago, as in years, and ever since I've wanted to make a better one towards Barbaro. You can argue that horses like Secretariat, Ruffian, Seabiscuit were the best, and they all were great, but Barbaro was special to me. My parents recall watching Secretariat who I wish I could have seen, but I actually got to live through Barbaro's story- his progress, his triumph, his tradgedy, and healing- and the people who went along for the ride like the down to earth Jacksons.. humble and incredible Matz, and Prado. Although it was sad, you have to look back and actually see how amazing he was. He's gone now, but i'm so glad I got to see this horse with so much talent, desire, and heart win. I can't believe it's already been around four years. I didn't want to include the Preakness because I don't like focusing on his breakdown or injury. I climaxed it at the Derby and made it more on how he captured a Nation before his breakdown and gave us hope to witness a true champion. ** I DO NOT CLAIM OWNERSHIP TO ANY CLIPS OR AUDIO USED** Clips are all from the movie Barbaro: A Nation's Horse. Thank you all! (:

Dunkirk - Maiden Race [01:44]
Dunkirk, a $3.7 million yearling purchase owned by Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, made that price look like a potential bargain when he overcame traffic problems, swung six wide and blew his opposition away in his career debut at Gulfstream Park. The 3-year-old gray son of Unbridled's Song, out of 2000 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Secret Status, by AP Indy, drew off at will from his 11 opponents to win by 5 3/4 lengths, covering the seven furlongs in 1:25 flat over a track that was playing slow for the first five races. Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Edgar Prado, Dunkirk, who was sold at the 2007 Keeneland September sale by Lane's End Farm as agent, had been working steadily at Palm Meadows since last November. The colt was sent off as the 8-5 favorite. Longshots Santana Six and Spanish Fortune finished second and third, respectively. Prado kept Dunkirk in seventh behind horses through quick opening fractions of :22.35 and :45.34. Blocked by a wall of horses, Prado moved out but was unable to find any holes. He then swung him six wide, and Dunkirk quickly leveled off and stormed to the lead, drawing off with every stride.

2000 Suburban Handicap - Lemon Drop Kid [00:34]
Lemon Drop Kid took some fast and serious strides toward racing's year-end honors yesterday when he outran Behrens by two and a half lengths and won the $500000 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park in the second-fastest time in the history of the 114-year-old race. He not only defeated Behrens, who ran second to the world-class Dubai Millennium in the $5 million Dubai World Cup in March, but also flew the mile and a quarter in 1:584/5 . That time was just three-fifths of a second off the track record, set in the Suburban in 1991 by In Excess. And Lemon Drop Kid also became only the fourth horse to race a mile and a quarter in the Suburban in less than two minutes. Edgar Prado, who also rode Lemon Drop Kid to a seven-length score in the Brooklyn Handicap last month, made no secret of the fact that he had kept Behrens blocked on the rail. ''I knew I had Behrens pinned on the inside, and at the top of the stretch, I wanted to get the jump on him,'' Prado said. ''My horse just took off, and I knew Behrens was chasing me.'' Scotty Schulhofer, who trains Lemon Drop Kid, conceded that ''the position we were in didn't hurt us.'' ''He just keeps on running,'' Schulhofer said. ''He's finally got focused, and Prado is the big thing as far as the improvements go.'' And Jeanne Vance, who owns Lemon Drop Kid, said: ''This one is extra special because Behrens was in the race.'' Both Schulhofer and James Bond, the trainer of Behrens, predicted a return match in the Whitney at Saratoga on ...
