New York Watch: Funfair [01:30]
Trainer Christophe Clement, who in recent years has won major turf races for older horses like the Arlington Million, Beverly D., Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational, Man o' War, Shadwell Turf Mile, Sword Dancer Invitational, and Woodford Reserve Manhattan, continued his strong run with 2-year-olds during the 2012 Belmont spring/summer meet when Funfair debuted a 3 ½-length winner on the inner turf course. "This is a faster group of 2-year-olds [for me] than usual," said Clement, who unleashed impressive dirt winner Native One on July 4 and was second on the turf with Apple Cider on June 29. "It's nice for them to be doing well during this time of the year." Funfair demonstrated ample speed herself, dueling with Priscilla Marie, the lone starter with previous racing experience, to the furlong marker before shaking clear of the runner-up while being hand-ridden to the wire. Priscilla Marie was 2 ¾ lengths clear of third-place finisher Colorful Image. The final time for six furlongs was 1:08.63. Funfair paid $8.80 for a $2 win wager as the 3-1 second choice.

Adams County 6-10-2012 [00:27]
One of our best runs ever! If I can just drive him out of those barrels a bit harder I think I can get a little more speed out of him! Best birthday present ever from a great horse! I love you Gotcha, a whole second faster than 6-9 :) If I remember right it was an 18.6

Barbaro Trainer Michael Matz Bringing Union Rags to Kentucky Derby Bleacher Report.flv [06:41]
It's 5:30 in the morning at the beautiful Palm Meadows training facility in Florida and upon our arrival, we find world-renowned horse trainer Michael Matz is already hard at work. We caught up with Matz a day before the Florida Derby where his front-runner, Union Rags, would run in an important preliminary to racings' Triple Crown. This is not unfamiliar territory for Matz. He was, of course, the trainer of Barbaro. "Why We Watch" spends time with Matz at his training facility just a day before the Florida Derby. Although Union Rags would lose, he came on notably faster than the two front-runners. The extra 1/8 of a mile should prove to make the difference that Union Rags needs to win the Kentucky Derby. Ghostzapper vs. Saint Liam - 2004 Woodward (G1) [02:11]
In winning six of his first eight career starts, Stronach Stable's Ghostzapper always had breathing room. Okay, there was that one race he won by a half-length, but other margins of his victories ranged from four and quarter to 10 and three-quarter lengths. He was obviously a good horse, but no one was really sure how tough he was. Saturday afternoon, 10251 Belmont Park fans got their answer. Sent off as the 2-5 post-time favorite, Ghostzapper dug in under jockey Javier Castellano after being forced to the middle of the track by Saint Liam, endured bumping and still managed to win the 51st running of the Grade 1, $500000 Woodward fro three-year-olds and up at nine furlongs -- the Opening Weekend feature of Belmont Park's Fall Championship Meet. Not only Ghostzapper he win in spite of not having everything go his way, his winning time of 1:46 1/5 rivaled that of Mineshaft last year and In Excess in the 1991 Woodward. Only Forego, who won the 1976 Woodward in 1:45 4/5 carrying 135 pounds, Dispersal, who carried 123 and won the 1990 Woodward in 1:45 4/5; and Precisionist, who won the 1986 Woodward in 1:46, have run this race faster. Precisionist, Mineshaft and Ghostzapper all carried 126 pounds in their Woodwards.
