Folowthemoneytrail Wins at Turfway Park [05:26]
FOLOWTHEMONEYTRAIL settled in hand four wide, moved up to engage the leaders leaving the turn, struck the front entering the stretch and edged clear. BREAK OF SILENCE made a long drive circling six wide, and continued on well to earn the place. GO BRAY BOO attended the pace off of the inside, bid between horses leaving the second turn, garnered a brief lead, weakened during the drive and settled for the show. SAVAGE VOW was close up four between horses, offered a mild bid but lacked the needed late response. BIG PICTURE GUY was unhurried into stride, came seven wide and finished with a belated gain. FIRE ANGEL settled saving ground, angled out leaving the second turn but passed only the tiring ones. MOMMA'S HAPPY bobbled at the start, recovered quickly and was forwardly placed three wide, but came up empty between horses on the second turn and dropped out. TIME TO ENGAGE lagged far back and was never a factor. DRAKE MANOR opened clear to set the pace, was headed nearing the five-sixteenths pole and stopped.
Oscar Pistorius vs Horse [01:31]
'Blade Runner' Oscar Pistorius outruns horse in race! SOUTH African Oscar Pistorius beat Arab horse Maserati in the 'run like the wind' race. The 26-year-old Pistorius, known as the Blade Runner because of the carbon fibre blades he runs on after having his legs amputated below the knee before he was aged one because of a congenital condition, beat the horse over 200 metres. Pistorius, who reached the 400m semi-finals in London and also ran in the 4x400m relay final to realise his boyhood dream of competing at the able-bodied Games, took full advantage of starting 15 metres in front of Maserati, who ruined its chances of winning by making a terrible start. The race was not the first time athletes have competed against horses with some of the most notable champions such as 1936 Olympics hero Jesse Owens and 1992 Olympic 100m gold medallist Linford Christie also going up against their four-legged friends, who generally out-paced their human rivals.
2012-12-04 Clairwood - race 8 [01:43]
2012-12-04 Global One colt 'Global Vigil' relished the extra when going over 1600m for the first time to win impressively at Clairwood. Turning for home a few lengths off the leader he powered through to hit the front halfway down the straight and then stayed on to win well. Adding merit to the performance was that he made his run along the inside where the track conditions are markedly inferior to the middle/outside.
