It is run at Leopardstown over a distance of about 3 miles (4828 metres), and during its running there are seventeen fences to be jumped. Jockey Robbie Supple rode Nick the Brief to victory during the 1991 Hennessy Gold Cup thanks to the training expertise of John Upson.
